The best beach I've ever seen!
We were lucky to visit on the most beautiful sunny day, the views before reaching the beach were amazing. The cliffs were so impressive, then you see Coumeenoole Beach in like a cove between them. There were surfers and swimmers, the waves were fun. The glorious weather made the water tropical like in colour. This is the best beach I've ever seen.

    Beautiful coastal beach near Dingle
We left Dingle on a very narrow road towards the beach. This gem of the beach was breathtaking. Parking is somewhat limited so you have to time it well because there's no other place to park. There are cows and sheep, living on the hills nearby and a very long paved walkway to get down to the beach several hundred feet below. We didn't plan to go to the beach, but we just sat on the green hillside taken in the beautiful view. Definitely make it here if you are nearDingle.

Amazing — Even in the Fog
The fog was setting in! We wondered about making the trip from Dingle. We are so glad we did. The geology, the hydrology and the seclusion make this an amazing place for photos and being enveloped into place and a moment in time. A must see place. Take time to sit and enjoy. You will be changed!!

On A Stormy Day there is nowhere like it . Had it all to myself yesterday because of the county travel limit and no tourists . I could hardly stand with the wind . The head above the beach was used for Star Wars and there’s a new path up to the top of it but not on a day like yesterday.

Only for it’s not safe to swim there this is the perfect beach .

We did Dunmore Head walk first. Nice walk but you need good shoes and i do not recommend on a wet weather. It can be to dengerous. Views are stunning. The beach is lovely. Kids had a fun and made a castle. Big enought car park.

This is the main beach used in Ryan's Daughter (IRA gun scenes etc.)

Very atmospheric but beware of undercurrents - not for small children.

The day we visited, the wind was blowing so hard (and cold) that I could not safely go down the hill to the beach. I walked about half way down the hill for photos, but I had to prop myself up just right to avoid getting blown several feet. Also, I needed to hold the camera tight, as it could easily have been ripped from my hands. Although it was difficult to stand outside on this day, it was also magnificent. The power of the wind, the spray of the sea below, made the scene all the more fantastic.

Please don't forget to go up to Dunmore Head. I saw a lot of people just walked down to this tiny beach and went back to their car afterward. You have absolutely missed out if you didn't walk up Dunmore head. Dunmore head and the beach shares the same parking space and I guess a lot of people didn't want the hassle of walking up a hill. The view on the top of the hill is spectacular and the hill really isn't that hard to climb. Bring some snacks with you because once you're up the hill you will want to sit there for a while and enjoy the view. Also be careful where you walk because there were a lot of sheep droppings!

You can access thi beach the easy way. We do not recommend going up and down to and from the hill. The slippery walkway could lead you to injury.

We parked at the parking lot above Coumeenoole Beach, but instead of walking down to the beach we climbed up the hill to our left and took Dunmore Head Trail. At the start of the trail there’s an honesty box requesting 1 euro per person. Afterwards you climb over the stile and then follow the narrow sheep trail up the hill along the side of the peninsula. Dunmore Head is the westernmost point on the mainland, and the closest point to the Blasket Islands. From the trail looking forward we had views of the coast and the Blasket Islands, even though it was an overcast day. Looking back we had views of Coumeenoole Beach. Eventually it got so windy and the trail was so close to the edge that we decided to abandon it and head inward on the peninsula, where we picked up the return trail. Here we had views of the coastline north of Dunmore Head and green pastureland, plus we ran into a few sheep. We were the only people on the trail, and overall it was my favorite walk in the two weeks we spent in Ireland. I can imagine that on a sunny day it would be absolutely stunning.
