Good carved megalithic artifacts exist and the layout of community can clearly be seen over the area. Worth the effort to see it. Normally not crowded.

Riasc Monastery is poorly marked on the Slea Head Drive and if we weren't specifically looking for it, we would have missed it. It's a turn off of the main road for about 5-10 min drive up a tiny road (one of those where you...More

Great example of early Monastic community. A jewel at the end of a small lane. Worth the few minutes off the beaten track.

Beautiful! Stunning! Fabulous! This is a real gem and worth a visit. Take some time to soak in the atmosphere and think about the people who lived there hundreds of years ago as the wind sweeps over you. See it!

Worth a short stop as it's only a few minutes off the main loop road. Neat to see how folks lived long, long age.

My favorite part of visiting Ireland is seeing such fabulous historic ruins. Be sure to go with a competent guide (Dennis Ryan is the best!) who can tell you what's what here. This monastic site has a fascinating history and its age is sobering.
