We have shops in Sudbury, York, Harrogate, Newcastle Fenwick Food Hall, Leeds, Burscough (Booths) and online. Pop by for tips & advice, menu planning ideas and our handmade Curry Packs, tailored to your tastes. Returned after a long time not shopping here due to Covid and work. Now retired so called in. The woman who served me was so helpful making up my spices for my preference and helping me decide which curry to try, how to make my own naan bread and whether and when to marinate. I will definitely be back, I have so much more time to try all the different recipes

without a doubt, Rafi's spice mixes produce the best, most flavoursome and delicious curries i have ever tasted - and i now live in East London. I used to go into this shop as a child (around 20 years ago) and now i order the packs online. The quality has never faltered. I have also converted numerous friends to this wonderful little shop who continue to keep themselves well stocked with packs.

For anyone interested in making their own curry, but perhaps not keen on amassing a cupboard full of spices (can't think why anyone wouldn't, but some people are funny), or for those whose time is at a premium, this is the place to go. Rafi's excellent curry packs can be bought here, along with just about every accompaniment you can think of and a good range of spices too. There is a great range on offer and staff are always happy to tailor the heat level to your liking. The packs themselves can be frozen and even once the curries have been made, can be divided into individual portions and slung into the freezer for that perfect 'want a curry but can't be bothered to go to the take-away' moment. In addition to that, I can genuinely say the quality is pretty close, if not equal to restaurant standard.

Walk in to a friendly lovely smelling atmosphere staff are very helpful and have a wealth of knowledge to give your curry that extra kick if needed this is spice city for Sudbury

After a pleasant walk through Sudbury town we couldn't help but want to check out Rafi's. If you're a fan of homemade traditional curries then here would be the place to grab unusual spices and try out new recipes. One thing that appealed to us the most was the online feature which means a Uni student like myself I can pre order a custom made curry mix and have it made before me or delivered to my Uni address, which means I can lay off the cup a soups and pot noodles.
Overall very friendly staff with world of knowledge and looking forward to trying my first Rafi Spicebox curry!

Everything you need to make your ideal curry. A blend of spices to match your description put together by the lovely staff packaged with instructions and any additional advice you may need. If you don't like the 'bits' they will smooth blend it for you, exactly the same end result. Only way to create that authentic curry.

Tried this recently with two different mixes and was blown away with the simplicity and the quality. We bought great quality butcher's meats and fresh vegetables where suggested to add as the ingredients to go with the spice packs we bought. Honestly, best curry ever!!!!!
I loved the mix that we added their coconut cream to and will use the rest up soon I know. Don't miss this trick if you want to entertain with a curry meal - or maybe keep it secret just for you at home!

I love this place!! I was never a fan of curry until I found Rafi's. If your ever in the area pop in, you won't regret it...
I love the fact you can go in and ask for a mild Korma, a hot Rogan and it is all made up right there with all the fresh ingredients right down to the chilli being cut up in front of you, then the pack is sealed and the instructions printed.. There you are your all set for a great curry, all you have to do is buy your meat and maybe a fun of tomatoes.. They also do the mixes for Bombay potatoes and my favourite onion Bargie mix...it's all there in this great little shop.
The staff are really helpful and friendly...
Go one give it a try.. It's brilliant!

For all things in Indian and Asian cookery, Rafi's is the best. But if time is short and recipes look daunting, delicious results can be achieved with Rafi's curry packs. Ingredients to prepare a specific curry are vacuum packed in front of you and the pack can be refrigerated or frozen. All you need to add is a kilo of meat or vegetables of your choice and one or two extras, e.g. tomatoes or onion. The end product is delicious and, for me, better than any take-away. There is a mail order service.
Sadly, Rafi passed away recently. She had a great personality and was most helpful to her customers. I attended her Indian cookery evening classes about thirty years ago! You can see her on YouTube talking to James Martin. She is greatly missed.
