One of the 2 castles in Rhuddlan
Sep 2020
We came here 2 or 3 years ago and tried to get it listed on Trip Advisor, it was rejected as it was supposed to not be there. It is there and it is interesting. The views are fabulous

Lovely spot

Really nice hidden spot by the river. A lovely place to walk dogs as it's nice and open. The view from the top is lovely, clear view over Bodelwyddan. A few nice benches too for a little sit down and picnic

Lovely walk, Historic

There is a lovely walk from Rhuddlan village to Twthill and back around past the caravan park. Historic area with information boards explaining the past. Lovely views from the top of the Hill.

Stunning Views and Historic Piece of History
May 2018 • Couples
A nice walk from the Castle through a shady path leads you to this giant hill which once housed a castle. The views are stunning and you can see 360 degrees. It is free and the hill has a delightful breeze.

Interesting

To describe this as very good is stretching the point a little, but it is interesting and above average. The mound is man made, and all that remains of the castle that stood here nearly a 1000 years ago. The information board gives an insight into its use back in the day, as does the broken sledge give an insight into what the local children would use it for when there's snow on the ground today.
Just one word of caution, the path leading to the mound, and the mound itself, get very muddy in winter.

Stunning views

A short, pleasant walk for people of all abilities and a cheaper equivalent to Rhuddlan castle. The views over the vale of Clwyd are magnificent. I would definitely recommend

Site of the original castle at Rhuddlan. Marvellous views across the flood plain. Near to the castle.

A fascinating walk.

The history linked to this fascinating mound deserves the short walk from the castle.
Do a little research before you visit and enjoy the experience and stunning views.
