Couldn't have been better
Aug 2021
I was responsible for organising a celebration lunch for a family member. Apart from her deciding on Brownlow House as the venue and selecting the menu that would be offered to guests all further liaison was done by me. Right from the start I found Mr David Martin manager to be helpful, courteous and accommodating. Prior to the event I visited to go over some fine details. That day I spoke to Andrew who was very helpful and I left confident that my wishes would be relayed to Mr Martin and that the commitments he made would be seen to.
On the day of the lunch I arrived early to get favours, flowers etc set out. From the minute I stepped through the door until I left when everything was finished and guests had gone home I can only say that every member of staff from Mr Martin right through all of the staff who had different roles every one of them was attentive, polite and professional. We could not have been treated better. The food too was beautiful, served efficiently by the very pleasant and helpful waiting team.
The Second World War Museum was available to the party guests and some guests took up the offer of a tour of the house.
It was a super lunch enjoyed by all, only made possible by the team in Brownlow House who deserve much credit. Many and sincere thanks. I'm confident that the family and friends who attended and who are local and those who travelled to join us will be back and certainly the word on everyone's lips was ' I'd recommend this place to anyone.' Overall it was a great experience enjoyed by all.
I live locally and will certainly visit more often especially when I've been enjoying Lurgan's fabulous Park which is adjacent to Brownlow House. Thanks again & well done.

Customer is never right
Jun 2021 • Friends
We visited with friends for breakfast.
I asked for one dish and asked that bacon be swapped for sausages. Point black refusal by the staff.
Considering that they woukd be cooking sausages and bacon ad nausium for breakfast, I fou d this an incredible response.
Previously this wouldn't have been an issue, but their new cooking staff must be jobsworths.
I will not be back after this deplorable service

Was here for a hen party private function - staff I met were lovely as I went earlier to decorate! Afternoon tea was delicious and plenty of it - very attentive staff for topping up drinks/tea/coffee and the tour of Brownlow house was informative and interesting!

Morning coffee Brownlow way.
Sep 2020 • Couples
Lovely service, delicious white chocolate and raspberry scones, gorgeous decor: all these factors led to a really enjoyable coffee morning today. Very helpful assistant gave me useful information about afternoon tea, which I hope to book on the near future.

Can't cope when Busy. Rude 'manager'
Aug 2020 • Family
Having been to the Tea Rooms in Brownlow House many times without complaint I thought I'd treat my mum during 'eat out to help out' to lunch.
We went relatively early to ensure we got a table without waiting. We were shown to our table by a lovely lady. Unfortunately I never got her name but if it wasn't for her I would have scored 1 star.
Lunch was ordered with no problems and arrived relatively quickly. I assume this was because they still weren't busy at this stage. While we ate lunch a queue began to develop at the door. Social distancing clearly doesn't exist when it comes to queuing for a table..
Thankfully when placing the lunch order I took a picture of the dessert menu pinned up at the till. Otherwise I think we'd still be waiting for one. We decided on some cake and a tray bake along with some coffees. This is where it all went down hill. I was next in line to order food when this man... Who I assume was the manager... Barged up to the till and totally jumped the line... No excuse me.. No please.. No thank you... NO MANNERS. Infact I don't think he realised he had customers in the tea room. He read out a long page of orders to the lovely lady on the till who several times told him that what he was asking for was not on the menu to which she was told 'just ring it in'. I would hate to think my manager would speak to me as rudely in my workplace.. Especially in a customer facing environment. She apologised embarrassingly to me. And a long wait later we began to complete my order, only to be interrupted again by another member of staff who was having issues with another table. Wrong order. Didn't receive everything and charged the wrong amount. I now had to wait again for this to be rectified. Its embarrassing that this happens infront of a customer but what's more embarrassing is the amount of people queuing behind me that thought I was the problem and I was holding everything up!!! . The tray bake was given to us straight away. The coffees followed shortly after.. The slice of cake... That arrived after coffes were finished.. We actually thought they had forgot. They arrived just as I was about to ask. When the cake arrived I did say to the girl serving them.. 'finally'! I didn't get a response.. No sorry to keep you waiting. No sorry that took longer than normal. No enjoy your dessert. Just no acknowledgment whatsoever. I could continue to say that I bumped into a friend while there who had the same issue when ordering. The same rude man in the purple shirt bumping in to place a massive order. And again no apology. No acknowledgement. I could also continue to say that while we were having dessert we witnessed him doing the same thing again!!! But I won't ramble on. Clearly there were 'customers' elsewhere in the building that were more important that those sitting in the tea room. I over heard those at the table behind me comment on the service too so I know it wasn't just me that had issues. I rarely make a complaint. Today deserved one but I didn't... Why.. Because I'm sure that purple shirt ignorant man was the manager and I quite frankly don't think he would have cared. Unfortunately because of him and his ignorant ways I won't be back. To the dark haired lady who showed us to our table, who took our order at the till, who looked embarrassed when she apologied that 'everyone was firing questions at her at the one time'.. You're much better than brownlow House

Great little find
Aug 2020 • Couples
This was a last minute find for us. We were supposed to be walking around a castle on this day but due to COVID19 it was closed. Instead we saw this on TripAdvisor & thought we would give it a go.
The house is beautiful on the outside & in. The tea room is located inside & is out school but charming. They do the usual coffees & teas plus lunch items. We had an omelette, a chicken & ham panini, a coffee & a mint tea. All was 50% off due to the Eat Out to Hell Out scheme.
Very nice lunch followed by a walk around the lake.
