Myself and my family visited today with the intent of buying numerous Mother's Day presents, whilst holidaying in the Peak District. I tried to ring ahead but it went straight to answerphone. On our arrival there was a note on the door saying 'gone for lunch, back in an hour'. There was no time stated, so we thought that's fine we'll get lunch too. We went across the road to a cafe and returned in an hour. We entered the shop and were immediately met by a abrupt 'are u here to collect', I said no we are hoping to paint something. She replied 'well we're closed'. I explained we'd drove quite a distance especially, but she replied 'we've not had anyone all day'. I literally couldn't believe the horrendous service, there was absolutely no apology. The signs were still out on the road saying 'open' and there were still 2hrs of their trading hours to go. I wouldn't return here based on the woman's attitude alone, she was outrageously rude, and it certainly wasn't the pleasant environment I imagined taking my daughters to.

Went today with my 3 year old. She painted an item and After we finished we left. At about 30 min she asked if we could scribble something else on it like her name she didn't do and other bits. So we returned and I asked if we can do it. The woman gave it back to us and wasn't happy we wanted to do it. She had a part upstairs that arrived when we were there the first time. The party didn't mind us sitting there but she did and started getting rude and abrupt we were taking too long. To the point she started snatching the plate from my daughter while she was still painting and wanted us to go! My daughter was shocked and upset so was I but did not let her take the plate. The woman there became extremely rude and nasty. Even my 3 year old asked why was the lady not nice. My friends and I will not be coming back and i make sure everyone i know and uses this pottery is aware of this place's attitude.even though we live in Bakewell and go regularly and every year with quite a few friends and kids to paint before Christmas. Loss to the business for a quite significant amount of money. She also charged us an extra £2 each as she saw me with a brush in my hand so be were even if you are helping your small child with brushes and guiding them you will be charged because! you hold the brushes. Absurd! Never experienced such a bad customer service. Surprise that business is still going considering the customer care. Do not recommend.

I booked in for a large group of 18 people for a Sunday morning - owners where super accommodating and when they realized we'd only be in area for 4 days she worked really hard and had all our pots ready to collect before we set off home after our holiday!! Can;t ask for any better service, we will make it a yearly visit during our stay now :)

We booked for 1pm and found the shop quite easily in Bakewell. Once there you are asked to choose what you'd like to paint. The kids went for a unicorn and a princess. We were given a table upstairs and then given helpful instructions. Our kids loved it, took about an hour to get all the paint on with a bit of help from us. You then take the painted items downstairs and asked when you can pick them up as they need firing in the kiln, this usually takes a couple of days. Great experience for the kids and would recommend

We had a fabulous impromptu afternoon painting plates with our three year old. It was personal, relaxed and friendly with Carol, who went the extra mile to get the plate ready for our trip back south. Express your inner child and creative side and share the fun whatever your age. Also do take time to look at the beautiful crochet goods all created by Carol, plus contemporary niknaks for your home too. Thank you Carol - it was lovely meeting you. Best afternoon and great value. Nancy, Victoria and Louis.
