Lovely church packed with so much history as you would expect. The atmosphere is so relaxing and calming, I could've sat in the church all day long. It is well worth a visit if you need a bit of quiet time away from the crowds.

We visited this church on a rainy day in January as all the usual attractions in the area were shut for the winter, I’m glad about that.
From the outside it is like any other Church except it is set high above the town of Bakewell, but inside the history of the Church dates back to Anglo Saxon times.
There is so much to feast your eyes on, that we wandered around for ages taking in the beauty and history. If you’re in the area take the time to look, as it would be a mistake to visit Bakewell and ignore this wonderful piece of history.

Its steeple is iconic and like a siren calling you up the slope to be met with gob smacking awe for a small town to possess this grand monument.
The eclectic mix of Norman, Neo Gothic and Fortress features will remind you this a work over many centuries. It is the towering octagonal steeple rebuilt in the 1840s that shows a truly self conscious people. The worker who fell during construction and was buried where he ultimately stopped at Number 527.
More awesome is the 1160 s front door and the returned Celtic gravestones from Sheffield Museum on the western wall. Five Shaped stone sarcophagi in walls and floors. It s treasure trove of artefacts.
A classic is the only vertical sundial on the outside southern wall invented by a parishioner in 1793.
Give yourself at least 90 minutes not the nine I rushed through with haste and neglect.

I’m not really a person that ever visits a church, apart from weddings etc, but this I have to say is a beautiful church.
We strolled through the grounds and looked inside the church itself, definitely a time for reflection.
Very quiet and clean and tidy as it should be, no noisy people to spoil the stillness of the moment.

If you are visiting Bakewell and have a few moments spare it is well worth wandering up the hill to All Saints Parish Church. Steeped in history with a commanding view over the town few churches are built on a hillside quite quite like this.

We were very lucky to be here for a family wedding but sadly didn't have the full amount of time to be able to stroll around and take it all in. What we did see told us that it is over 1000 years old and has a lot of involvement in modern day English History. The old gravestones show how many old gentry were around in the day and how people used to be buried in 'stone coffins'. If you are in the area of Bakewell you MUST go and pay a visit to the church. Pay a donation to keep the place going.

Canon Tony is both vibrant and fun; he can bring the service to life for both young and old and is well able to demonstrate the relevance of the teachings of the bible in a modern, often cynical world. Even if you are not well acquainted with faith (and I am not) you will feel lifted by a service at All Saints.

A must for travellers wanting to see such an old church. Inside the entrance were an amazing collection of old stones showing ancient christianity arriving.

Wherever you go in Bakewell the chances are the spire of all saints will be looming in the background!
The parish church is a novel blend of a well loved and we'll used modern parish church and a monument to the past... The sanctuary is spectacular as are the family crypts in the chantry chapel, well worth the short but steep climb up the hill.
