Spent a pleasant few hours looking around the East wing ground floor of the house, but would be nice if more of the house was opened for viewing. The volunteer guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. The extensive grounds would make a nice additional attraction in summertime. There is no café etc in the house, but some nice pubs, cafes... Thanks for the review. The State Rooms, which you visited, do have around 100 paintings on display, as well as an important collection of 18th century furniture. Much of the rest of Corsham Court is used by Bath Spa University, who are the tenants of the Corsham Estate. I live in another part of the house and here the Library... More

Exceptional collection of paintings in this privately owned 'house', many works are of painters that are also in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence!! Lasting memories are of the peacocks in the grounds and their tail feathers for sale in the house :)

Art lovers, garden lovers and anyone who appreciates a beautiful building will love Corsham Court. The house has some wonderful art work and on the day we visited the volunteers were very friendly and full of information about both the paintings and the furnishings. The gardens are beautiful and there is an amazing hedge that has to be seen to... More

I love viewing old buildings and this was again another good one. England certainly new how to design and build in the old days.

Thanks for this Janet. The only problem is that the photo you've posted isn't a view of Corsham Court - it is somewhere else (and rather grander by the look of it!) I appreciate the comment though. More

After having a disappointing visit to Bowood, Corsham Court proved to be very much better. Very interesting house with lots of antique furniture etc. Amazing display of pictures by well-known artists (old master style in the main, lots of portraits). Room guides were all very helpful and friendly. Nice garden and Capability Brown landscaped grounds.

The house is still lived in so only a few rooms are open, on the ground floor. Packed with art and there were room guides in two of the rooms but they didn't say much. The information provided about each room was fairly basic. I think the idea is that you should buy a guide book. I was not impressed.... More

The rooms that are open to the public are the same ones that have been for decades, and these contain most of the historic collection. All visitors are given a list identifying the 100 or so paintings on show and the experienced guides (there are always four on duty in the rooms - not two) are more than happy to... More

As two of a party of 28 pre-booked visitors we had the privilege of a private tour of the main rooms before the property opened. The main room is a triple cube and contains a most wonderful art collection. All the rooms seemed to have so many items of furniture etc. from the 16th century almost unique in a country... More
