If you walk through the High Street in the beautiful part of Corsham, you have to take the road almost at the end at the post office. Then you see this church and next to it Corsham Court. This church dates from the 12th century and high above the south aisle arcade is a Norman clerestory window. The piers on the west side of the nave still show rubble from the original Saxon west wall. Over the years, many pieces have been added and renovated. The church is surrounded by a cemetery and just walk inside. From the car park you can also take a walk to Corsham Lake.

The parish church is just by the entrance to Corsham Court so we popped in. A very old foundation with many later alterations. A particularly fine funerary monument in the side chapel. Statues of Sts Peter, Paul & Bartholomew on exterior.

I have visited this gem of a church many times, as a local person.

Its steeped in rich English history.

There is a lovely black cat who has been seen sleeping on the pews!

Myself and a friend have often taken some time to sing near the piano.

This is one of those class 'hidden gems'. built around 1244 this church has real history and atmosphere. Make the effort to visit - we were the only people there at the time. It is quintessential English history.... for free! Great walks to be had around the grounds still owned by the family but open to the public! Top marks.

So interesting! Hauntingly quiet, historically intriguing. You can explore all on your own using the information provided. Some unexpected delights inside the church and in the churchyard for those who search. Peaceful. Uplifting.

A great church to visit that is situated just outside the main grounds of Corsham Court. Car parking available immediately outside although limited. Stroll around Corsham Court afterwards and take tea in a cafe on the high street to relax after all that walking.

An interesting historic old church with the tower and spire set upon one side, also in the interior beautiful stained glass windows and a fine barrel roof. Well worth a visit when you explore Corsham.

An interesting church with a splendid barrel ceiling and because of additions a wonky nave. Well worth a visit when visiting Corsham Court or walking through the gardens

Saint Bartholomew's Church dates from Saxon times, with a considerable expansion in Norman times and further additions and rebuilding in the 15th century, including the porch, the Lady Chapel and the nave roof. The nave was reconstructed in 1874 after the old central tower and its supporting structure was removed to increase seating capacity, with a new tower and spire built on the north transept.

The architecture of the church is therefore a little confusing, but it is fascinating to visit and there is a helpful leaflet available.

A welcome additional experience to a long walk in the park, Corsham Court's Park, that is, not a municipal one! Wish I had read up more about the building before visiting.
