Thank you so much for your visit, and for taking the trouble to put your comments here. We very much look forward to seeing you again, perhaps in a different season - try late May / early June for the wisteria, and extremely important element of Harold Peto's designs here. More

Truly impressive gardens are a labour of love, and it can take decades for a garden to grow into maturity, sometimes longer. True, this creation has been around for over 100 years, but nonetheless, some of the areas of Iford left me speechless - the Oriental/Japanese garden in particular. Heavenly! You could have millions to spend but you wouldn't be... More

Hi Fuddam, thanks so much for your encouraging words. We really enjoyed meeting you and I'm really pleased that you felt so at home in the garden here - that's the essence of Iford: to just sit and be, and take it all in. Hope to see you again soon - you'll be more than welcome. More

We visited on a hot afternoon it cost five pounds for O.A.P price. The gardens were very steep and lots of steps not good for the elderly , no hand rails for aids at the steps there was no seating around the gardens except for the "Temple area " certainly no shaded areas to sit and enjoy the garden. The garden itself... Dear 475Pam, It's always painful to read of the rare bad experiences that people have, but your review has particularly wounded us, since here at Iford we pretty much spend our lives as a family and team maintaining the historic gem of Harold Peto's house and garden and the beautiful countryside in which it is set. I am sad that... More

Iford Manor is a treasure well worth looking for. Sitting on the border of WIltshire and Avon and Somerset, the Manor has the river Frome running passed it and there is a beautiful bridge right outside the entrance to the Manor. Sadly, we only had time for refreshments but we all opted for a delightful cream tea with home made... More

I read about the Peto Garden before visiting, it was a planned visit. There is plenty of parking just over the road and ample space for a picnic if you wish. The gardens are on a hillside with stunning views of the local countryside. We enjoyed walking around the gardens, which contain different areas, i.e. Japanese. The gardens are very... More

Harold Peto's idyllic home until his death in 1933. Amazing setting next to the clear & fast flowing River Frome. Lovely Itallianate garden with many feature including lovely wisterias, many salvias & fuchsias. Lovely cloister with stunning views across the bucolic Iford Valley

A treasure trove of Tuscan vistas, curios, peaceful nooks, fountains and follies ... all part of a harmonious whole. My highlights were the fountain and dark fuchsias at the entrance and the beautiful cloisters at the top. It would be lovely to go back and see it after a few more years' restoration work. The unobtrusive cafe is worth a... More

Hi jeizza, Really pleased you enjoyed your time at Iford - the restoration work continues apace, with year 5 of the replanting scheme next year focusing on the lower road border from the Cloister down to the Loggia garden, connecting your two favourite bits! I've passed on your comments to the tearoom about the cakes, and I'm glad you enjoyed... More

Visited Peto Garden at Iford Manor last weekend with group of 20 friends - they were blown away by the beauty and special quality of the place. William made a delightful introduction to his "home" and we were treated to delicious teas, coffee and home-made cakes (including a GF option). Then the visit which was a highlight of our weekend.... My second visit to Iford this year. I visited earlier in the spring and was keen to see it again in mid summer. The gardens are beautiful and the architecture within it is fascinating. I particularly like the Japanese garden, the great topiary on the box hedges and the lovely wisteria still seemed to be flowering and smelling gorgeous. The... More

Dear LauraMG, Thanks for your generous comments - so glad that you enjoyed your visit to us and thanks for the encouragement for us to keep maintaining Harold Peto's gem of a garden. The Sticky Toffee cake is new this year and has proved quite a hit - I'll let the tearoom know. All the best, More

Lovely tranquil place in lovely setting, well looked-after. We were lucky enough to visit on a warm sunny day. No sure how you'd find your way there without a sat nav, it's not very well signed. Also a simple garden guide would be handy but maybe they want you to buy one. Worth £5.50, better still half price with RHS... More

So glad you enjoyed your visit to us - following the major replant over the last four years (we have one year to go) - we will be producing a new set of guides to the garden - planting schemes etc. etc. so if you come back in 2018 hopefully you'll find what you are looking for.
