Sadly we didn't arrive until late afternoon so didn't have time to see the house, but the gardens are truly magnificent! I literally had my breath taken away as I had my first view across the lake. Everywhere we walked there were fabulous views with places to stop and sit. We will return, and allow a full day so that... More

This has to be one of our favourite places to visit. As National Trust members it is so easy, but I recommend it to anyone. Good parking, nice cafe, but FABULOUS gardens. Don't miss the site where Keira Knightley filmed the rainy scene for "Pride and Prejudice"!!

A beautiful setting with extensive grounds. There's lots to do here for all ages. The National Trust has invested well in its restoration efforts. Walks are a little hilly and, therefore, may be a struggle if in a wheelchair but I think there may be motorised ones for loan/ hire. After your walks you can even relax with a drink... More

A great place to walk, relax, play, picnic, read, lose a frisby in the lake. (Oops! sorry, I did own up) Even better if you are a National Trust member because it's FREE!!

This is a lovely place to visit. The gardens and lake are beautiful. The house isn't always open, so check the website before you visit. There is plenty of parking, a cafe and shop, typical of a National Trust property.

As we stayed at the Spread Eagle Inn, we were able to walk here before and after hours - and what a treat that was. In the morning the woods were alive with bird song and the water had a drifting mist with the sun setting it alight. It was really wonderful, especially seeing it with no one else there.... More

This is owned by the National Trust. Luckily we are members but otherwise a bit expensive to get in as well as paying on top for car parking. House hasn't much to offer. Interesting walking in well kept gardens plenty to see and loads of grassy areas to have a picnic. Also has a pub in grounds.

I go here regularly as it is close to my house. Every time I go I am not disappointed by the beautiful views around the lake. I take my dog when they are allowed and he loves it! it is one of the most peaceful places to walk around especially in the summer when all of the beautiful flowers come... More
