About
Roman Alcester is an exciting free-of-charge exhibition interpreting and displaying objects from Alcester’s Roman past and providing an information and learning resource on the Roman period. Alcester is one of the most investigated Roman small towns in Great Britain, with over 100 archaeological digs in the last 80 years. Recent excavations have revealed much about the area of the Roman town which would have been outside the boundary wall built in the 3rd century AD. Only Guide Dogs & Assistance Dogs are welcome.

Having little idea about Alcester, the museum seemed a great place to start. It turned out to be a lovely surprise. Well laid out introduction to the town and its significance as a Roman centre. It is suitable for children, but has a good selection of artefacts and maps for adults. Bright and inviting.

Took a ride down to Alcester to visit the Roman Heritage museum. We weren't disappointed.
Free to enter and plenty of local finds on display.
A video was also playing explaining everything.
For little ones there is a table with colouring in sheets and crayons to keep them amused.
Well worth a visit and all run by volunteers.

All six of us really enjoyed this Heritage Centre a lot. It’s free to get in and looked after by volunteers. Lots of Roman artefacts to look at and discuss between the six of us travelling together

I visited the refurbished Alcester library,to reinstate my out-of-date library ticket and poked my head round the door of the Roman Alcester Museum. I was surprised at the layout and scope and professional appearance of what I saw. It was vastly more appealing than previously seen, with many more examples of Roman artefacts and interactive exhibits and maps. I did a tour in chronological order but didn't have time to take it all in properly and will return and take more time over it to gain the most benefit.
Well worth a visit .

A great community museum with a focus on the local Roman heritage

This weekend the museum hosted a Roman festival with re-enactment displays

Offers great opportunities for children to learn about Romano British culture and lifestyle

A simple one room museum, with displays showing various recovered Roman and other artefacts from the town's history. Works hardto create activities that will capture the interest of children. Of only passing interest foradults without children.

If like me you were captivated by the history of Roman Britain from your school days you will find this small friendly and accessible museum in Alcester a real gem . With it's friendly staff the history of this small Roman settlement will be told on display are finds that have been unearthed over recent decades. It may not be a large museum but it is small and approachable and should keep anybody interested for an hour or so, please visit and support this local attraction.

Worth a 30 minute visit. Well laid out and very informative. Each display is clearly labelled and the free guide is full of information. Plenty of hands on stuff for kids and very helpful staff.

This is a relatively small but important museum detailing the Roman heritage of Alcester Due to its size not all the finds (of which there are many) can be displayed however it is always worth a visit when in town. The museum hosts a large number of school children every week for an excellent educational experience
