Perfect beach for young children: good clean sand and long stretches with clear views. The water is cold when you first go in but soon warm up running in and out! Perfect to build up an appetite. Fussy eaters were looking for extras.

Great place to run, walk up the dunes, spend tie with the family, and the list goes on. One of the best beachers in Britain, surely. The views of the coast both to East and West are amazing.

This is a must-visit for anyone heading to the North/Northwest coast. Always walk this either on my own, with my husband, or the kids. Sand dunes are great, waves can be awesome and great for a paddle whatever the weather (just bring wet shoes in the winter)

One of the nicest, cleanest beaches you are likely to have the pleasure to enjoy. Great walk to the White rocks and back. The sand dunes are stunning and when the sun shines, it is hard to find a better place anywhere...

A 2min walk from the town center, this is a very beautiful and clean stretch of beach to walk around. As always, the weather in Ireland plays a big part in strolling around the town and beach. Best enjoyed on a nice and sunny day!!

Great beach. Soft sand. Fantastic walk during the good weather. Me and my girlfriend would sometimes bring a picnic with us

Plenty of facilities or a few hours on a sunny day. Cheap car park and enough facilities. Great for surfing.

This beach is the longer of the two Strands in Portrush and is great for a good walk to clear the head, and enjoy stunning views. It is dog friendly, although there is a small restriction at each end from June - September, the majority still welcomes four legged friends all year round.
It is also used for Park Run on Saturday mornings and junior parkrun on Sundays.
Just remember, if you come to visit this, or any other beautiful beach, leave only footprints please

Oh yes, very much so and it's very popular.
There are a few restrictions in the summer. From 1st of June to about the middle of September there's a section at the Whiterocks end car park (wee short bit from car park towards Dunluce) and a section at the Portrush car park that dogs are not permitted as they are very popular spots for young families. It's easy enough still to access the dog part from either car park. Dogs are allowed free of the lead.
We've been dog walking on it for about 5 years and no problems at all.
55 North at the Portrush end have a part outdoor cafe overlooking the beach that dogs are welcome on a lead.
