Great wee, traditional local bar, populated by both locals and tourists, and run by the very welcoming and accommodating Claire. Open 7 days a week for drinks (many places close on a Monday & Tuesday). There are also rooms above - McMullens Central Bar B&B.

Hidden Gem! Had a great family stay recently and would highly recommend. We had family room with double bed and built in bunk beds for the kids. Room was spotless with very comfortable bed, and everything else you need for your stay. Staff are super friendly. Location is excellent (with free parking facing the guesthouse) and well positioned for exploring the surrounding area too, and lovely beach within walking distance. Breakfast in the morning 1 minute walk to nearby Cafe Cova which was amazing. Will definitely be back.

Excellent ensuite room above bar. Room very clean and decorated in white. Bar a bit busy in these Covid times . Good breakfast in near by cafe provided.

This bar is slightly smaller on the inside than it looks from outside. On entering it immediately feels homely and welcoming. The peat fire in the corner adds both warmth and atmosphere and the staff are very friendly without being intrusive. Live music on Friday night was also really enjoyable.

Arrived at the Central bar anticipating a delicious lunch, as we had on many other occasions. We were directed to a great table, unfamiliar lay out, as bar has been updated since our last visit. So far, so good.
Asked what drinks we would like, we ordered and they arrived soon after.
Another waiter delivered our menus, he was absolutely stinking of cigarette smoke! Very off putting, to say the least!
The menu was very uninspired, on previous visits it had been interesting with good variety. Anyhow we both ordered slow cooked roast beef with potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
We were hungry having had a brisk walk along the north coast from Giants Causeway towards Portballintrae.
Our food arrived, what a disappointment!
The beef was a big “ slab” of reasonably tender pre cooked beef, certainly not freshly cooked n carved off a roast!!
The roast potatoes were ready peeled n deep fat fried! Hard as rocks!! The veg was straight out of a bag of frozen veg n were cold when plated up n presented to us!
All in all a serious disappointment compared to previous experiences.
The ethos n atmosphere has dramatically changed, we will not be back!

Stopped for a pint of Guinness while traveling the North Antrim coast. I had just toured the Old Layde Church (which I'm surprised isn't noted on TripAdvisor), an ancient hidden church ruin with cemetery. Anyway, I had a pint at the Central Bar after traipsing through the ruins. Nice place.
