Not sure children would be interested in this trip. I personally think it's adults trip. Although I was informed there are school trips booked. It's nice to see something as useful as a spade being made. Worth a visit.

We visited the mill as a family. We have two boys 10 and 8 who both found this really interesting. Was fantastic to step back in time and see how the spades were made. The live demonstration is a real look into days gone by. The tour is really informative, not rushed and there are plenty of opportunities to ask questions. The staff/volunteers were a credit to the museum. The site offers motorhome overnight stays. Its a nice place to have a picnic as well before or after the tour.

I attended with my wife and daughter on Sunday past there, we found it very intriguing and a real treat to see how spades where made from a small bit of metal. This is a real step back in time and it’s great that the National Trust saved the building from certain destruction and possible losing out on all this history my daughter was very impressed by the knowledge from the volunteers who answered all the questions from the tour group we done to all involved in this little gem keep up the great work.

We had an interessting time in the Petterson mill. They showed us how the spates were made some time ago. The guided tour was authentic and the guides very friendly. You could see that they like what they do.
