Causeway/railway station.
The causeway itself is free to do. Well worth the view and you can walk down towards it without having to pay inside the visiting centre.
Unfortunately the day we arrived the centre was closed so we wanted to just find somewhere to stop and feed the baby. We drove to the railway stations just across from the causeway, spotted a little tea/room cafe. Had planned on parking up and heading inside to grab coffee tea cake for adults and feed the children. The carpark waw empty minus one car. A woman who had paid her 8pound parking but realised she didn't want to park up there handed us her ticket on the way in. So we took it knowing we were planning on spending money inside the coffee shop (3 adults, 2 children, 1 baby). The staff member inside (yellow highvis jacket) stormed out towards us having spotted the exchange of ticket, and ignorantly and aggressively told us to basically pay our own 8pound or f-off. As I said, the entire car park was empty and nobody was sitting inside. We wouldn't have been anymore than half an hour and probably would have spent 30/40 pounds in food inside. So he basically lost out on money for the sake of himself pocketing 8 pounds. I did explain we planned on going straight in to order food, and he was having none of it. His loss. Pure arrogance. Wouldnt dream of going back myself for the sake of rude ignorant people.

A 25 min slow tram - allows you to see the views. Bottom car park free - and you can then visit the causeway (be careful of tram times as you will probably need an hour half min to do it justice). Not sure about previous review on costs £6 return for adults and this seems reasonable as it’s run by volunteers and can’t be cheap to maintain. Nb top station in great condition but bottom station is poor condition and be careful on the platform as very uneven.

Total disaster. Phone day before and told can not pre book, but if you show up at 12.15 for 13.00 train, should be no problem.
Arrived 12.15, told can not see getting on train as it depends on those coming from Bushmills and looking to return back to bushmills. We were party of 4 adults and four children with oldest child being 8.
They dont have an clue on tickets sold between stations. Not computerised system.
When discussed with manager I quote his own words " I dont care".
Who every funds this need to review the funding, and the staff need training on manners and customer service.
And why not able to pre book. Would solve lot of trouble.

Robbery. Last time i was there, it was free. Now you have to pay £13.50 per adult and £6.75 per child if you want to see the visitor center. If you want to avoid it you can park at the causeway railway at £8 fixed rate. If you park in the road you could get a fine since there is a double yellow line.
The scenary is beautiful but the greed of the locals and the NI Tourist board is terrible.
A tourist trap for yanks and asians.
Better value for money in the cliffs of moher or anywhere in the Republic of Ireland.

We absolutely loved this trip with our young boy and baby. Had such a good time. Shame it broke down so we had to walk back . But these things happen and to be honest it's such a lovely walk anyway. Will definately go again and would thoroughly recommend 👌

Look, it is a nice, peaceful tram (not a train) ride and avoids the mayhem that is the GC car parking. However, although good experience for the kids it is likely a one time experience.

Few things worth noting. The information available online is poor and conflicting so be careful.
The tram runs from GC to BM at 11, 1 & 3. And runs the opposite way BM to GC 11.30, 1.30 & 3.30(single last run).
A family ticket is £27, which is steep, but as it is privately run we were willing to pay. (otherwise the wee tram would be consigned to the history books).

It is extremely slow at 6mph , (a good walker could keep up) and the scenery is just ok.

A decent family experience with young kids and avoids the parking chaos up above.

We ended up at this parking lot and gladly paid the 8 pounds to walk to the Causeway from here. Maybe took 30 minutes, but the parking lot up top was backed up with folks trying to get in. Dave yourself the stress and park here.

I visited the railway and was met by an elderly gentleman saying what can I do for you!
I said I had come to look at the trains and have a look around.
He said “the trains aren’t running” ok I said.
Can I have a look around and have you a leaflet to read?
He said “if you must “
I felt like he didn’t want to be bothered with me.
Captain Manering sprung to mind lol
I would by pass it- not friendly at all.

Took the wee lad on it as an experience. He loves trains so he enjoyed it. Nice views along the bay towards the causeway. Thought it was reasonably priced for what we got. Coaches were clean.

Currently sitting on a chair outside the railway station with 2 kids (3 and 2) both with disappointment on their faces. On a two week vacation this is the second time we have attempted to take the train from the causeway to Bushmills.

Firstly, having been disappointed on a previous years holiday, we have learnt to look up the website and get the telephone number to ring to find out if the service will actually be running.
The website must have been designed by primary school children and hosted on some server in the abyss as it loads so slowly and renders a mess on mobile devices.
Also forget getting any useful daily information of the site as it seems to be updated once a year with the timetable and the ever increasing prices.
The only thing of note on the website is a telephone number to call to check the service is running.

The reason I am now writing this review, is having rang and been told that the service is running, I parked the car in portballintrae and walked with 2 pushchairs to the railway, I’ve now been told the train is off the track.

Communication is terrible! In the day of instant information, Facebook, Twitter, mobile apps with push notifications I find it unacceptable to arrive and the train not be running.

Also just to add, the facilities are disgusting and look like the haven’t been cleaned in months.

It’s time the place was either closed down, or ran by competent people. And in a tourist hotspot, I can not understand why there is no support from the causeway coast and glens council to provide this service.
