Nicely laid out paths by the river side. Exercise machines are there too. I’m the middle of the pretty village it’s such a lovely setting. Enjoyed the heron watching too

Quiet walk

This was a good place for a quiet walk during our stay, the river ran through a park in town with several places to cross and admire the scenery.

Runs thru Bushmills a lovely fast flowing river perfect for salmon!
Aug 2017 • Couples
We stayed for 2 nights in Bushmills and did the river walk. A fast flowing peat coloured river with several rapids and weirs perfect for salmon obviously a great place for fishermen and walkers. We were told that you can take this walk and then take the coastal train track walk to the Giants Causeway. Field views and great sunsets add to this lovely place. Under the bridge there is an excellent old mill with large water wheel not working now but several mills in the past used this river for power.

Nice place to spend a few minutes
Nov 2016
Took pictures of the weir and watermill from the road. Can't get up close to it as it's private property. It is possible to walk along the footpath on the other side of the bridge but it looked a little flat and featureless so didn't bother.

Only spent about 5 minutes taking pictures, although the salmon leap and water mill are very photogenic there's not much else of interest

Took a walk down by the Salmon Leap, was really tranquil on a sunny afternoon. If you have an hour to spare then take a walk down here.

Peaceful and relaxing
May 2016 • Friends
Peaceful and relaxing, the River Bush features jumping salmon. There are many seats along the riverside and you can enjoy watching the salmon leap right out of the water. At first, you hear the splash and miss the leap, but then - with some patience - you can watch the salmon leap and play in the river.

A nice riverwalk
Aug 2016 • Couples
We enjoyed our time on the riverwalk through Bushmills. There was even a spot by one of the stone bridges where locals have permanently installed exercise equipment and there were tons of kids actively using it. The riverwalk also takes you through a lovely park and we saw kids playing around a neat cow sculpture. If you're in Bushmill's and on the go, take some time to walk down one side of the river and back up the other. It's apparently a great fishing spot, and we met a local whose father-in-law has a plaque in his memory on the shoreline, placed by his angler friends.

Premier salmon river
Jul 2016 • Solo
The River Bush is a premier salmon and trout fishing river, arising in the Antrim hills and flowing for about 30 miles through farmland towards Portballintrae where it flows out to sea. It is an early run river, each year salmon starting to run up river in early spring where they make their way through several favourite fishing pools at Bushmills and onwards to the spawning beds.
The Northern Ireland Inland Fisheries Division of the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL) operates a salmon fisheries station at Bushmills where they count the number of salmon returning from the sea to spawn each year.
