I visit here when I wish to sit down and think for a while. I glance at this each day on the road to work and have done so from my childhood. This is the marker that reminds me of home and of the people...More

Stunning views for miles around. Dodgy to get to with narrow fast roads and limited visibilty. Take it easy and on a clear day you could spend hours looking down at the land below

For the Autumn of 2018 you'll find the site busy with workers repairing the monument. It looks very different, covered in scaffolding. The work will be completed before the centenary of the Armistice of World War I. That's November 11th, 2018. For now the layers...More

Its a steep climb up for cars and even worse for walkers but the views over Belfast Lough towards Bangor and north towards Carrickfergus are worth the effort. The height of the monument is staggering. Its a good place to sit and reflect on life...More

A great place to visit: peaceful and reflective, given the fine views and the history surrounding the construction of the monument and memorial.

A serious issue this place has developed is it has turned into an underage drinking den, I'd heard of this before but experienced it when we visited, got hassled by a number of teens, might be intimidating to some people so just a warning.

If you have a clear day and about 30 minutes to spare, then it is well worth seeing. The monument can be seen from great distances and is an impressive memorial to the fallen soldiers of both world wars.

All the scaffolding is gone now, and has been for quite some time. On Facebook people have posted photos of the view, so the site is accessible now. We're just days from Armistice Day, and I'm sure they'd have scheduled to... More
