Due to the military impenetrability of this castle the town of Carrickfergus long thrived even when surrounding villages suffered defeats.

Just a short trip out of Belfast, lies the small town of Carrickfergus, a lovely spot just by the sea. The sun was shining on the day I went which was an added bonus. The castle is really interesting but if you are expecting Windsor...More

not enough of the interesting parts available, having visited the castle often over 40 years. I found this visit a big let down and will no longer consider it as an interesting place to take visitors, something I have enjoyed doing in the past

This Castle has had a lot of renovation and one has to ask how much is real and how much isvreconstructed. that aside it is a large Castle with all areas of 15th Century lifestyle covered. Well worth a visit.

For the price, this was just such an amazing part of history. I learned so much and I really liked the fact I could just wander around at my own pace. Fabulous!

Called in to kill a bit of time, best £3 worth I have had for a while. Amazed at the story and quality of presentation. Children love it, but keep an eye on them, lots of steps to the 3 levels. There are plans, yet...More

Carrickfergus Castle is a beautiful example of an ancient castle built to protect the town. Well preserved and easy to visit. Ample parking.

We took at trip to carrickfergus castle over the weekend and had a wonderful time, it's excellent value for money and plenty to do and see. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids age 12,8 & 5 and they all loved it.

Had a great time here with my daughter and her cousins. Very reasonable priced too. Not too big, indoor picnic area.

I can also highly recommend the Ulster folk museum mentioned above but make sure you give enough time.... it's massive but we'll worth it. A really good day out for all.
