We visited on a wet and windy day, but, nevertheless, had a most enjoyable visit. Lots to see. Gift shop as well. Also toilets. Our only disappointment was the absence of an audio guide. I don't think Cadw do them! There are information boards which explain some of the buildings and their use. Afterwards we walked all around the outside... More

Kidwelly castle is everything a great castle should be. The remains are plenty to allow you to imagine was life was like within castle walls about 800 years ago. Definitely go and see it. Take the kids. Take a picnic. Fab

Prior to our holiday in Kidwelly, I did not even know the place HAD a castle, least of all one this size! There's lots of stairs, walkways and towers to explore, with fantastic views from the top. Not suitable for tiny tots or the infirm due to uneven ground and steps. Amazing history and feel to the place. Toilets next... More

The castle was bigger than I thought with some high areas still available to climb up. The view from the top is great over the village. The car park is small and the street is narrow so we parked in the village and walked back up to the castle. We paid to visit and it was worth it. We love... More

First wet day on the holiday but wanted to visit as we were psssing and have been before a couple of times. Free if you are English Heritage members. Lots to see - towers to climb, dungeons to descend into, walls to walk. Pretty well preserved. Lots of info boards to give context. Can recommend a walk into town to... More

We really liked how well this castle is presented and how there is plenty of information to read and provide an appreciation of the castle's history. We learnt a lot. The staff in the reception/shop were lovely. We took lots of great photos! YMMV

A great castle, well preserved and with access to ramparts in some places. Beautiful views of Kidwelly, Mynyddygarreg and the river and also looks superb at night as it is floodlit-it! . Plenty of grass room for a picnic, space for the kids to run around, not overly priced for admission and you can also experience the beautiful river walk... More
