A very well kept castle. There is a small entrance fee but it was worth it. The castle is very well kept and there is plenty to see. The castle permits dogs on leads on the lower levels only.

Lovely castle ruins, reasonably priced at £4 adult - wouldn't take children due to loads of holes in walls. Need to be fit & able to get round it. Could do with more directions once inside though.

My wife and I visited as part of our annual trip with Cymdeithas Hanes Llanbed (Lampeter History Society). Our visit to this formidable and well preserved castle reminded me of previous visits in my teens whilst on family holidays in the area. The castle has a long and chequered past, the earliest castle apparently being Norman and built of earth... More

It's so lovely to see a true example of a castle, with so many intact remains as so many these days have been destroyed or only a few rocks remaining. It gave a real sense of castle life and the reasoning behind rooms being built in specific places. The admission was fairly cheap too, only £12 for three adults which... More

Very nice castle situated in nice village. I visited it in very nice and sunny day and the view from the highest tower (public acces) was fabulous.

Was surprised at the size of this castle. very well maintained, the old lady of Kidwelly was there selling the famous black sweets. There is lots to see. We liked climbing the stairs and walking on the walls and looking at the fabulous views. Would go again.

The castle is in a reasonable condition for its age although there is quite a bit of the exhibit that you can't enter.. A number of the towers are now just dirt floors that turn muddy on rainy days. I wouldn't take a detour of a long distance to visit.

It might not be the biggest, best or complete castle in Wales but for the price it was well worth the hour we spent here. There are lots of warning signs and if you don't like heights it might not be your cup of tea but if you watch your step, and are sensible, you can have a great time looking... More

Visited here with my 9 year old son. £6 for us both to get in. Lots of great information boards and a great wee shop. My son also loved finding the Kidwelly black cat!

Very fine castle. A question of definition of course, but I think it would be fair to describe it as the best of the second-rank castles of Wales. In a lovely spot by the River Gwendraeth.
