The best sixty minutes of rib-tickling historic escapism you'll find in...

The best sixty minutes of rib-tickling historic escapism you'll find in Skipton. Our canal trip promises you a guided tour that's fun whatever the weather with the finest countryside views you can get without moving your feet.

Your guide for the canal tour is award-winning comedian Dave Spikey of Phoenix Nights and 8 Out of 10 Cats fame. With his characteristic Northern patter, Dave takes you on a whistle-stop tour of Skipton and canal history that's refreshingly different to your average commentary.

Above the jokes and laughter, you'll hear points of interest and fascinating stories of how the Leeds & Liverpool canal delivered the lifeblood of the industrial revolution through Yorkshire. There's food and drink on board too so it's a fun twist to your lunchtime break.

Our lively canal trip proves you don't have to let planning or nasty weather get in the way of a good time. Our boat The Cobbydale sails at 10.45Am, 11:50am, 1:00pm, 2:10pm and 3:20pm. (The 10:45am trip runs in the high season, All trips run subject to demand).

We went on this trip on 18/08/2016. It was a sunny day and we had just arrived in Skipton. Though not being familiar with the area, we managed to find the boat place easily. It was possible to park in their small private carpark right by the office. It is free to park for customers of Skipton Boat Trips and... More

A nice hour trip, the commentary was very funny, but had little to do with the trip. The boat broke down half way along, got caught up on something, but didn't detract from the trip. Tea and coffee served which was nice.

It was a trip along the canal and then a turn round and a sail back to the boatyard accompanied by a recorded commentary that started off amusing and then proceeded to annoying. The journey gives a good view of the canal but not much in the way of scenic attractions. If we had not been part of a pre-booked... More

The trip was only spoiled by a very large noisy family, which meant we could not always hear the very interesting commentary being given. There was free hot drinks and biscuits served by the staff and there were plenty of interesting things to see. Although we sat at the front with everyone else this time, we would sit nearer the... An hour-long canal cruise for £8 each... A lovely, relaxing jaunt along the Leeds Liverpool canal, with commentary from Dave Spikey, and a bar on board!

This is a one hour cruise that, rain or shine, is a good way of seeing the town in a different perspective. The Liverpool and Leeds Canal has an interesting history and you travel along between scenic banks and through several swing bridges. The commentary is informative and the humour a bit corny sometimes but still and interesting dimension to... More

We went for the 1 hour boat trip today. A lovely relaxing cruise down the canal with great commentary. My husband enjoyed his pint of locally brewed beer!
