Sherwood Forest 600 years later!
Jul 2017
Deep in the forest the Vendéean homeless found refuge. Their houses had been burnt down by the Revolutionary soldiers - no wonder that Paris and all it stood for is still so hated in the Vendée even today.. Carefully reconstructed is the site which once held some 2000 displaced people? A reception centre has a short introductory film and there are numerous explanatory areas around the site. An English translation is available on request if needed.
Wheel-chair accessible with good toilets and a small restaurant for light snacks.

So Very Interesting
Jul 2015 • Couples
This attraction tells the story of those ordinary french people caught up in the French Revolution and how from this village as they were Royalists they had to flee to the forests. There are huts designed to demonstrate the hardship they endured and how they managed to survive. The staff were very helpful. There is an english guide book to assist
