Beautiful medieval village with wonderful views over the hills above Salsomaggiore Terme. When we went there it wasn't at all busy, but judging by the size of the car parks outside the village I guess it could get very popular. Some friends went on Monday and said they were the only people there. Restaurants available for you fuel up in. Not sure how else you could get there other tan by car, but we did spot a few bus stops on the narrow windy roads!

Beautiful setting with medieval walls, cobblestones and surroundings. Gorgeous views of the valleys. Easy to park and free parking, park just outside the castle walls and walk through the arch. Depending on where you’re coming from, the roads can be quite bendy but it’s worth the visit. Make sure you eat in Vigoleno. The local wines are very nice.

If you're in the area drop in and walk around this pretty little castle. The views are the castle are stunning. Check the opening times of the tower as on weekdays during the summer the tower does not open until 2.00pm.

A magnificent medieval castel. Super well kept, and an interesting museum with a torture room that is not to miss.

Situated near Piacenza, this superb castle deserves a visit, because in addition to its beautiful state of preservation is situated in a vinicola area of excellence. Enjoy a taste of the local sparkling wine in the enoteca just in front of the main entrance and enjoy the calm of this beautiful site

This town will bring you back to the middle age and the hole town is very good preserved. You can also find a very nice taverna there, Taverna al Castillo - try it!

What a unique experience to stay in a castle! Our room in the guard house was very clean and quiet with a wood beam ceiling, a comfortable bed, and a large bathroom. The included breakfast was tasty with friendly service.

We loved exploring around the little village inside the castle walls and visiting the tower museum. Dinner at the restaurant across the street was delicious and well-priced; try the fried polenta and fried bread appetizer.

Note, the roads up to the castle were steep, with switchbacks and very narrow parts. Our little rented Volkswagen made it just fine, but be sure to arrive and depart in full light.

This castel is really amazing. Everything here is well preserved and restored and the time seems to be suspended. Take time and come up to Vigoleno!

Vigoleno is a large castle and enclosed village in the heart of Emilio Romagna more or less equidistant from Parma and Piacenza. there is a typical small delicatensent and small cafe-try the local way of drinking wine out of white bowls and savour the views of the unspoilt countryside.
