We bought a small boogie board at Safeway in Maui for $16 - we brought our shortie wetsuits from home. This beach is clean, wide, has an observant lifeguard, free and has good “boogie board” waves. Both times we were there, no hard board surfers were there which made me feel safer (that I wouldn’t be hit by a hard board). Unlike Texas waves, these waves are much stronger. I watched how people were catching the waves and imitated them. At this park, I waited for the waves to crash first and then rode them in. I’m in my 60’s and “held on tight”! The wetsuits added buoyancy if you can borrow some.
And - very importantly - the bathrooms were nice. I could shower outside and then change in bathroom.

We loved everything about this beach! It is unspoiled by condos, has beautiful views, surrounded by iron woods, clean restrooms, and excellent burgers and shakes at the Burger Shack. My 3 children loved the day exploring the iron woods, relaxing in the hammock, body surfing in the large waves, burgers & shakes for lunch, and walking over to the formations at Dragon’s Teeth. As we were there in the windy season, we did not even attempt boogie boarding, but all the more reason to plan another trip here!

Large beach with excellent surfing waves and plenty of space to accommodate beachgoers. We like this beach because it has a sandy bottom extending far into the waves (no reef shoes needed), and it is less touristy than beaches on the western side of Maui. It also has restrooms, an outdoor shower, picnic tables, grills, and a life guard. You may see the occasional sea turtle on the west end of the beach in the afternoon, nestled in the rocks. Only visit on a calm day; if it’s windy, you will be disappointed.

You'll never know what it feels like until you are here and not shy of having fun and being yourself. Some people think talking to strangers is prohibited, but there's no limitations as to what one can do, as we live in a world of endless possibilities. Talking to strangers is a completely amazing thing that I'll never stop doing. This amazing photo was taken by a stranger, and these same people we see as strangers are actually Angels walking on feet.
We need to learn to give STRANGERS a chance, and to learn to speak with people in order to be able to attain the full spirit of Love.

When I was planning our trip and looking for the best beachse in Maui this would always be ranked somewhere between 5th and 10th. After going to almost all the beaches on Maui, our entire family (epsecially the kids) would rank this #1. Beautiful beach. Wasn't crowded the two times we went (both days were mid-afternoon). Bigger waves which the kids loved. Overall just a wonderful beach. Don't miss out on this beach.

What I liked about DT Fleming Beach - #1. I had no problem parking. I parked there twice in one day as we left for lunch and then went back and both times I was able to find nice, close parking. #2. They have a lifeguard. #3. They have restrooms facilities there. The day we went to this beach was very windy, so the waves were big and fun to swim in. The beach itself was nice and clean. We had a great time at this beach! If you have the time, be sure to walk south past the Ritz and go see Dragon's Teeth on Makaluapuna Point. Beautiful!

We love this beach, and return every time we visit Maui. This last time, in April of 2021 we saw numerous turtles swim right by us.. Less than 10 feet away Great beach, nice sand!

Had awesome time with the large waves! We rented boogie boards and spent several hours in the ocean. We also enjoyed watching the surfers.
We had so much fun we went twice in our week in Maui

We went to several beaches during our our Maui trip - Kapalua Bay beach, Napili, Honolua Bay, Slaughterhouse Beach, and DT Fleming Beach. DT Fleming was our favorite. There is a long stretch of sand, plenty of space to spread out and relax. Not crowded!!! Not overused. Plenty of parking, no matter what time of day, we found parking (put Preschool at Kapalua into your phone, and there is a big parking lot for the beach next to it). It is the beach closest to the Ritz, w great food at the Burger Shack right there. Also, lifeguards and bathrooms. We went daily!!! Also, gorgeous views, and just the right waves (we got lucky).

This is not a remote beach... however there is plenty of room, bathrooms, an easy walk and the Westin has a restaurant/ bar just off the beach. Swimming is safe and some folks are boogie boarding or surfing.

Plenty of families and lots of room with good views.... you won't be alone, but it's not overcrowded.

Enjoy.
