Lovely memorial just need more info

Enjoyed walking around this memorial park and viewing the giant statue with her back to the ocean. The memorial wave wall was also very reflective. As no information we did leave with many questions but appreciate the Thai people’s desire to move on and not make a tourist attraction of this devastating event.

Incredible

I have given this place 5 stars only for the people there and those who should be remembered.

The Thai government should be ASHAMED at the state of not only this memorial, but the policeboat memorial in Khao Lak.

We have recently been to 9/11 area of names York, the Thai government should maybe take a look at how others remember their people.

15 years after the biggest tragedy to hit this part of the country and these memorials are in shockingly poor condition.

Our highlight ( not in a pleasant but respectful way) of the day was chatting to a local ice cream man who lost his young son in the tragedy.

Thailand please sort yourself out and tidy up these memorials.

hard to believe the statue was not damaged by the tsunami, so I was informed, not totally finished but worth a tour.

Tsunami memorial
Jan 2019 • Couples
The memorial wall appears to be sadly neglected, the museum is small but informative. We expected more since this was such an tragic event and so many lives were loss. I experienced a strong feeling of respect and sadness and would have liked a place to sit and contemplate however there are no garden and no bench. If you are in the vicinity it is worth a visit but do not expect much.

Shocking small museum !

This natural disaster was depected in the small museum. In about 15 min it educates the visitor on 2004 tsunami, which hit the region. The surroundings also reveals some of the impact. I recommend to visit if in the area.

Very moving

A lovely memorial to the 10,000 dead in the 2004 tsunami. It really makes you think about the devastating force of nature Mun what is otherwise such a serene and tranquil place.

Place for thoughts

For me the most moving factor was the Buddha turning his back towards the sea. As he is protecting the people against the threats from the ocean. Had a quiet walk on the beach. Thougths with all the people that lost their loved ones.

Sad but beautiful
Feb 2018 • Couples
It's not massive but big enough to get around with a struggle if using walking sticks. It was sad seeing the photos and even more so the wall of remerance. The big Buddha was was great to see as an act of what looks to me like watching over everyone
