Marathon walk up and down 625 slippery stone steps!
Sep 2021
The only thing I can liken this walk to is being in labour and giving birth! 625 steep, uneven and slippery stone steps and a wet metal handrail through drizzling rain. However much my partner encouraged me and urged me on, I knew that only I could complete the walk - and there was no going back or quick exit out a side door! Probably the most un-Disneyfied attraction I've ever been to. However, the views are definitely worth it and the sense of achievement when you've completed it are second to none!
As other reviewers have said, it's certainly not suitable for anyone who is unfit, infirm, with any medical conditions, toddlers, or dogs!
It wasn't so much the length of the walk, or even the steepness of the steps (both up and down hill), but the uneven rockiness of the steps which were also slick with rain - one false move and you'll be tumbling down the hill like Jack and Jill!
There are plenty of places to stop and take photos - and a breather!

The ladies lie to stop you using toilets
Oct 2021 • Friends
Ladies who run the shop qnd thr ticket entry place collaborated and trying to stop people using the toilets. Lady at ticket office lied saying someone in there and kept saying to go use toilet at hotel whilst lady in shop said disabled toilet in her shop not working yet found her son using it. Explained had a bowel disease and needed to use the toilet but this this resulted in the shop keeper screaming and shouting as us after we made a complaint once we discovered both toilets were qctuaĺly working fine. Ruined our day out qjd disrupted the other 7 in the group. My mother who is 67 had gotten stuck on steps to waterfalls as she is frightened of heights and was ringing us to come being her back up. We delayed by 20 mins due to these ladies that lie to avoid having to clean the toilets after use. Won't go there again.

Great Scenery - But You Need To Be Fit
Sep 2021
This is a great place to visit, as long as you are fit, there are 625 steps, they are uneven and slippery at times, but the views of the falls are amazing.

Stunning views
Sep 2021
Great views, you do need good shoes and stamina, as the steps are a bit steep at times, but there are plenty of places to stop and take a breather and photos. And of course once you've finished the hotel has a great bar to cool yourself down. My partner and I visited both sides of the falls, so we saw the three bridges first. And we stayed at the Hotel so we could recover once it was all over..

Good walk Great views
Sep 2021 • Couples
We had a good time at Devils Bridge seeing the beautiful scenery on a hit and sunny day.

The car journey to the bridge was ok though the roads in the area are narrow and frequented by HGVs and groups of motor cyclists.

At the bridge there are two options for a walk, the Punchbowl, which is short but steep and the main walk, which is about a mile or so - both walks are a circular route.

We chose the longer walk, which gave good views of the 3 bridges and waterfalls.

The route is rough and stout foot wear essential. The path and steps down as well as up are uneven and need care. That said there are hand rails to assist.

The views were extremely good, and I can envisage in the wetter periods the waterfalls would be spectacular.

The walk back to the top is by way of about steps that can be strenuous for some and definitely not for the feint hearted. As there website says if you struggle with mobility the walk may not be the best for you.

Dogs do need to be on a lead under control as the steps in areas are very steep and could be hazardous when wet.

When you reach the top exit is by the Hafod hotel where we stopped for lunch.

For me I would recommend the walk, great exercise, great views, with a place for a good meal and drink at the end.

The waterfall workout
Sep 2021 • Couples
A great work out, through a beautiful valley, a steep range of steps and pieces of slate snake down to the amazing view of the falls. You then realise that you have the steep climb back to the top. Thankfully a cold beer in the hotel at the top made it all worth while.

Amazing !
Aug 2021 • Family
Very good value for money ! Beautiful views of the waterfall with various viewpoints . Not for the faint hearted as you need your walking boots . The steps are uneven and there are steep inclines and ascents . However it’s a tad optimistic saying the walk will take 45 minutes . It took us 1hour 15 . The bonus is there is a beautiful pub at the end called the Hafod . Beautiful food and views! Highly recommend!

Great walk and falls, variable/odd pricing for each side of the bridge
Aug 2021 • Family
Fantastic scenery and a good, relatively short but challenging walk. We did the longer one where you get to see and walk up alongside Jacobs Ladder and cross the scary old footbridge over the gorge.
Waterfalls spectacular, showing us there is an upside to a rainy August..!
The pricing varies depending on when you go and is bordering on expensive for a family if you want to see both sides of the bridge. The longer walk is £4 for adults and £2.50 for each child. No family ticket and then its another £2 pp extra if you want to see the bridge from the other side of the road, which I thought a bit unfair. A family discount and access for both sides using the one more expensive ticket would be fairer.
What I found a little odd is that if we'd have turned up 15 minutes later, the attendant wouldn't have been there and it reverts to turnstile entry for the longer walk at reduced cost of £2pp which would have saved us a bit! Why two levels of pricing though?
Still, a lovely spot with a nice pub at the exit.
The drive through from here to Rhayader on the B road is something special.

Waterfalls, trees, and steps.
Aug 2021 • Family
Holidaying in area and recommended. Took the longer walk. Really beautiful walk. Waterfalls are lovely. Not the easiest walk though - lots of steps and some very steep in places but plenty of places to sit down and viewing platforms. An hour or so walk and worth it if you are feeling energetic.

Great for a little stroll around
Aug 2021 • Couples
Had a great time, was expecting something a bit more strenuous after reading about Jacob’s ladder but was a pretty easy walk. We took the dog who had a great time, it was perfect for him, he’s 10 and was leaping about up and down the steps like he was a puppy again. It took us around 35 minutes to walk around it and there was great views throughout.
