Interesting and worth a quick look if you are walking Hadrian’s Wall Path. Not really much to see but the signage for Brocolitia Fort where the temple is located has information.

Visited on a cold rainy day and got drenched-but still glad I stopped. The Temple ruins are small, but the essence of the temple itself still remains. If you're visiting Hadrian's Wall and are in the area, it's worth a stop, as this cult was...More

Hadrian’s Wall was built by the Romans in 122AD. It’s purpose was basically to keep the barbaric Scots out with a wall running across England. This wall is not along the border between England and Scotland but exclusively built within England. The Wall basically runs...More

This was somewhere I had wanted to visit for a while, but would not go on my own, because I don't like cows! However, we went through the gate to the nearby fort, which is just like a small hill nowadays, and found a way...More

This is an easy walk from the car park along the Military Road. The altars (copies of the original) don't show much writing, but have some good carving. The sign for the site is legible (but should be replaced, it's been damaged.) It helps if...More

Interesting temple connected to Hadrian's Wall, peaceful and well preserved. You can still see the God Mithras image and another figure, it gives of a good idea of how it would have looked. People still leave offerings to the God. Nice place.
