Closed, despite phoning the night before.

Wanting to sample The Railway Inn, I phoned on Thursday evening to determine when it was open. In particular, I wanted to know when food would be served and was told that food would be available on the Friday lunchtime 12 till 2 and Saturday 12 till 2.

I drove 15 miles and arrived at 12:30pm on Friday lunch, only to find it shut (doors locked, lights off). There was no sign to say why it was shut and a large sign outside suggesting it should be open.

A waste of time. Being shut on a Friday lunch is just weird.

Amazing New Year's Eve night
Dec 2019 • Friends
We met up with friends in the Railway Inn and had a really nice meal which everyone enjoyed. I was drinking one of the guest ales (Dizzy Blonde) which went down very nicely. There was a theme for the New Year's Eve party which was Masquerade. Between 10pm and 11pm a lot of the locals came in wearing fancy dress and masks and we ended up chatting and laughing with lots of them. At midnight Happy New Years were exchanged followed by line dancing on the road outside. All in all an excellent night.

We visited on bank holiday monday....was very busy. All food came perfectly cooked..... mixed grill was one of the best i have had. Went later in the week and the food was equally as good second time. Highly recommended

Nice Atmosphere, Friendly Welcome, Nice Food

2 Small Bars and a larger restaurant area we chose to eat in the bar. Table could do with a coat of varnish but not a problem. I went for the Guards Grill (mixed grill) described as a challenge by the barmaid, nicely cooked and very tasty and it didn’t defeat me (apart from the black pudding). My brother had the same our wives had pies not quite so pleased. But test is would I go back, yes tomorrow if I was about that way.

Sunday Lunch
May 2019 • Friends
Such good value!
Having watched the start of the duck race on bank holiday Sunday, we enjoyed a very generous Sunday lunch. Choice of beef, lamb, pork or chicken or trio (beef, pork, lamb). Very generous portions, good selection of veg, including cauli, broccoli, peas, sweetcorn, carrots, red cabbage, mash, new pots and roasts, and stuffing. All for £10, or two courses for another £2. Staff were lovely and made us very welcome.

Sunday Lunch
Nov 2018 • Family
I visited this pub with my family including my two grandchildren. They had very kindly provided us with highchair for my nine month old granddaughter. There was a very good children’s menu and my grandson had a lovely homemade spagetti bolognese. The adults had the Sunday lunch, there was a great selection of veg everything was presented so well. The desserts were also delicious, nothing was too much trouble and the service was excellent. If you want a homely and we’ll presented meal I recommend you visit the Railway Inn.

This was our 1st visit but it won’t be our last.

Excellent Sunday lunch
Aug 2018 • Family
Stopped on the off chance as staying in the area. Initially in bar area which became a little crowded with dogs so without asking the staff moved us to the restaurant which was lovely and a nice touch. The Sunday lunch was absolutely excellent and could not fault anything and the service was also first class so a big thank you for a lovely treat.

Good country pub
Apr 2018 • Couples
There aren't a huge amount of options for a drink or something to eat. The Railway Inn offers a proper 'local' feel, as well as a nice restaurant area. Good home cooked food, and a nice selection. Local ales on draught and a lovely 'snug' in from of the fire.
Recently changed hands - and still good!

We called in for Sunday lunch. The lamb was amazing and service impeccable! We were made to feel very welcome and the gravy was amazing. Brilliant little pub.
