New Landlord - brilliant atmosphere - very welcoming
Nov 2021
A traditional pub in an awesome location right next to a small quay, and almost a step back in time inside. Friendly and welcoming staff and a lovely roaring fire to warm you up on these chilly winter evenings. A must visit

New Landlord….Lovely warm welcome xxxx
Oct 2021
I have been to this pub several times. An outstanding pub.
Back in September 2020….I had experienced the old landlord and I gave a bad review because of it.

However, since October 1st, Steve the new landlord has taken over the pub…..he’s also the landlord at the Lawrenny Inn further down the estuary.
We were both greeted by a very warm welcome.
Looks like lots of the old locals are coming back because of it.

Lovely beer, I had Jemmima’s Pitchfork from the Glamorgan brewing company…..and the white wine for the lady was nice.

Great fire on the go too. A wonderful Summer and Winter pub.

Please now ignore my old review from September 2020.

Great pub, great location

In short, anyone who gives the Cresselly Arms a bad review has spent way too long in Wetherspoons. No trip to Pembrokeshire is complete without visiting this establishment: I’ll get back to my locally brewed Caffle beer now!

Great location, lovely 'oldey' world pub, interesting approach to customer service.

I've been going to this pub / location for many years now. The location itself, especially at high tide, is outstanding, very peaceful and relaxing. Beers are generally ok, Doombar is as unimpressive anywhere. Quay ale (often referred to locally as 'Firewater') ditto, I believe it is in fact just 'Worthy' from the cask. Their guest ales can be excellent and well-kept, especially the Welsh ones. Things are particularly difficult for the whole trade with table service etc at the moment. I note some others' comments re staff and landlords - experience has shown me that the trick is to go against one's natural instincts and just ignore them, don't get wound up as I believe this is how they get their kicks. If landlords or staff suspect that you are in any way trying to attract their attention, they will ignore you to the death..walk past numerous times, avoid eye contact, make excuses, be rude etc. So you can just up and leave, or act as though you're not bothered and they will eventually come to you to be a) rude and superior, but b) more importantly to serve you an excellent guest ale and c) then b*****k you for using either cash or card (you will have made the wrong choice either way), and for sitting in the wrong place or in the wrong way at the wrong time, or whatever occurs to them at that moment. Otherwise, love it.

Extremely rude landlords who haven’t a clue about running a pub and serve up the worst beer that l have tasted in 55 years of drinking.

Was once a lovely welcoming friendly pub. You could drink on the quay car park and even on the grass if car park benches are full. Now you can't get served if you can't get a table outside the front door. Landlord has gone from really friendly people to someone who hasn't time for you.
😢😢. Used to love going there with my family but not sure it I will go back😰

Traditional pub in a beautiful setting
Jun 2021
Absolute bliss to have a drink in the sunshine, in such a lovely tranquil place. An all too rare kind of traditional pub. We found the landlord ok - being able to deliver great hospitality is not easy, and clearly doesn’t come naturally to everyone, but this did not impact on our enjoyment at all. Covid safety measures were in place and the facilities were spotless. We will definitely be back, perhaps with a picnic next time.

Great pub and location , abominable owner

The rudeness of the landlord is of epic proportions. If you can get over this fact without throwing him into the river , the pub is excellent benefiting from being in a superb location and good beer.

Lovely pub, shame about the "landlord".
Apr 2021
I've been visiting this pub off and on for twenty years and love the serene setting next to the tidal Cleddau River. Over the last few years though, since Morris retired, the atmosphere has changed for the worse. The current landlord is extremely rude and has absolutely no idea of how to be a host. On a couple of previous occasions I've noticed how clueless the landlord is with regard to offering a welcome.
We visited today and witnessed a table of four customers get up and leave, stating they wouldn't be back. This was the result of one of the party being rudely told to sit down or put his mask on. The poor guy had a bad back and was in discomfort when he sat. More than what was said, it was the way the landlord bellowed across the outside area and embarrassed the poor guy. He could have been much more sensitive and tactful.
To make matters worse, while shouting at this gentleman to sit down or wear a mask, the sorry excuse for a landlord was standing up puffing away on a cigarette. Total hypocrite!
Also, my fiancee politely asked if they served tea and the girl taking the orders looked at her as if she'd asked for Dom Perignon. The first pub I've been to that couldn't supply a simple cuppa. I'm not surprised that the hygiene rating is 1 out of 5 if their attitude to hygiene is the same as their attitude to paying customers.I
The pub deserves better!
