My first trip to Medellin was in 2010 and for the past 3 years I have called Medellin my home. As I live in the north part of Medellin very seldom do I venture this far south in the valle de aburra to Sabaneta but today was the rare occurrence.

I drive throughout the city of Medellin and I also drove into the Mayorca multi-level parking garage. To say that there are continual twists and turns and ups and downs in the parking garage is an understatement. Hundreds and hundreds of parking spaces were full and this was today, a Thursday at about noon, but you just keep making the twists and turns and before you know it you will see the little green light alerting you that there is an empty place to park.

Just this parking process is an endeavor, probably took about 12 minutes to find and park my car. So I landed on the 5th floor of the Mayorca Mega Plaza.

To say that these two malls, which are side by side and connected with a walk way on level 2, are enormous is an understatement. It took me 2 hours just to walk each floor and each aisle of these two building at a good pace but not stopping just walking so there are literally miles of corridors. Yes you could easily spend days if you need to do some serious shopping.

I did have a bite to eat at the food court which they have the standard mall food court offerings. I had a sandwich at Subway but soon enough my friends arrived and so had to meet them

I did have some business to conduct at the Transito office located on the 5th floor of the newer mall. This is similar to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) that we have back in my State of California. As expected they were busy non-stop. Interesting that this office is located in the middle of this shopping mall.

I must mention that there are, no joke, hundreds of outlet stores located mainly in the older mall side. Whatever brand you can think of well it is probably here. There are also many sit down restaurants and I observed many people eating and the places were full of people.

There are also boutique clothing stores throughout along with just about every type of retail store you can think of and talk about banks, I lost count of the number of banks inside this mega mall.

I was surprised that the parking is no cost. I spent a total of about 5 hours in this mega mall today. Word of caution is that this area of Sabaneta get lots of traffic especially during rush hour. After exiting the parking garage it took me 12 to 15 minutes just to circle around the mall in order to make my way back on the regional road.

Would I return and do I recommend this mall to others, a good question. If you need to do some serious shopping yes you can find whatever your after right here but just know to expect a full day of shopping. As for me this visit took a great deal of effort so I have other places to shop at in Medellin without the traffic and parking/walking involved.

I went with my family to celebrate my cousin's birthday at the restaurant "Crepes & Waffles" when we got there, there were a lot of people so we had to wait in a small line that did not take long thanks to the good service of the employees. They have a very varied menu, I especially liked the Mexican chicken crepe.

It is located in the Mayorca shopping center, going up to the 4th floor, after getting off the elevator turn right, go straight and the place should be on your left.

We go to this mall all the time, we live about a $1.50 cab ride away. It has everything one would want there. In this town there is a lot of pharmacies but not all have what you need...since you are in a mall there is usually 3 or 4 pharmacies in them and you can find what you are looking for in one or two of them.
