When you visit Gösta, visit also the Gustaf Museum. The Paper Devil exhibition nicely opens the history and life of Mänttä, museums, Finnish industry and the Serlachiuses. The Gustaf Museum is the former headquarters of the Mänttä paper mills and its walls feature art and tell stories how the life used to be. There is also a pharmacy, where you can dive into the past e.g. by dressing old clothes :)
This summer, the museum also had an interesting exhibition, Olli and Bucklan - Life and Art, which opened the production and life of a relatively unknown two artists to me. Their production has been very diverse, e.g. from the doors of Pohjola Bank to the crown of the King of Finland and coat of arms of Finland, brands, packaging, glass art, wood art, jewelery, fashion and paintings. You can also watch the short movie about couple's life.
You do not have to catch everything on the same day because you can get here the next day with the Gösta ticket. During the summer, this museum is also open every day from 10 am to 6 pm. I highly recommend. I would think it is a nice place for kids too thanks to the pharmacy museum and multimedia show.

The old headquarters of Serlachius mill shows how important these early wood processing plants were to the country. The patron ruled the community, enormous energy was spent on small details and there was no lack of money. The "green gold" built these empires.

The museum is run by the same foundation as the Gösta museum, which is the main attraction of and the main reason to visit the town of Mänttä. Once in town its worth visiting also the Gustaf Museum. It is more interactive than Gösta, telling the history of the building that served as the head office of the forest combine G.A. Serlachius Ltd. But it has also some exciting modern exhibitions. My favourites this summer were the Dali installations, and the Playground showing Elina Brotherus’ newest witty and exciting photographs containing layers of meanings.

These twin museums Gustaf and Göstä both offer exhibitions, and as Mänttä is such a small town, you can easily visit them both.

this museum is one of two museums in Mantaa by Serlachius and both are worth a visit and a combined ticket for both is only 10 euro which is really good value (I don't think there is a single ticket anyway).
This museum is the previous head office of the company and has a mix of exhibitions about the founding of the company and also some art. I found the building itself wonderful to see with stylish atrium and even air conditioning (for a building built in 1934 in finland this is quite remarkable, even some offices built today don't have such a system). You really get a feel that the company had some money at that time to invest in a nice building and the style reminded me of the Hoover building in west london, also built in the 30's.
The presentation makes good use of modern technology and is not full of glass boxes with exhibits and cardboard labels. The guides are helpful and professional and both museums are really well run. I would visit again.

Visiting Mänttä, one should really take the time to visit both Serlachius Museums: Gustaf and Gösta. That they are located about a mile apart, does not make it exactly easy, but presumably if someone is in Mänttä, it means s/he has gone there by car, so not a big deal.
The entrance fee is 8 euros, which is quite a high price for only one of the museums, but acceptable considering that the fee grants access to both of them.
The organization of the exhibitions is very good, logically laid out, although the impression offered is that the museum is bigger than what it actually is. The spaces are spotlessly clean, as expected.
Out of the three exhibitions I saw, one was probably more interesting to locals (and by that I mean people living in Mänttä). The other was the story of Serlachius himself, which was interesting enough, although - ultimately - the information offered would occupy about two paragraphs. In other words, too much fluff and special effects (rather poorly designed) and too humble content. The third exhibition, related to the - cough, cough - ancient history of Mänttä, was probably the most entertaining (although I can imagine some folks feeling confused afterwards).

Bottom line: If you plan to visit both museums, it's worth visiting Gustaf. If I compared the two, however, Gösta is by far the most interesting place, and somewhat closer to what a traditional museum/art exhibition is expected to be.

Museum Gustaf is located at the former head quarters of G.A. Serlachius paper mill later known as Metso Group. In the museum there is an exhibition of G.A. Serlachius himself, how he managed to build his "paper empire" in the middle of know where. In the basement there is a imaginary private detective´s office named Gustaf´s angels. They investigate how an industrial city could turn to an art city, a nice story. In the second floor there are an exhibition of hunting and some rooms which decoration was from that time when Gösta Serlachius was the VP of the company. The building it self is also interesting sight due to it´s architecture.

A uniquely beautiful 1930´s building, the former head quarters of the Mäntt Paper Mill. On the ground floor, a very nice presentation of the process of producong paper, starting from the transport of the timber.

The audiovisual history exhibition is interesting, and the building itself is absolutely worth a visit. There's also a great old-fashioned pharmacy and a shop that kids can play in and learn about history hands on.

In the basement you can also find an art workshop for children.

The rest of the villa is home for changing art exhibitions, and they are often very good. There's a lot more to see in here than you might first think.

The museum cafe is stylish, the small shop has a nice selection - and the service and the museum guides very friendly and knowledgeable.

A great visit any day.

I can recommend Dali's Gala and Brotherus' Playground exhibitions. The Paper Devil I just found boring. The building itself shows what you were able to do "in the good old days", if you had a pile of money.....
