After having seen the garden on a recent show where it looked intriguing, we made a special trip to it reserving the whole afternoon to spend there.
We were disappointed to find a tiny patch of park (Gloucester has bigger parks in the city!) with 2 muddy ponds surrounded by dead plants or empty flowerbeds. There is a 'tower' to see it but of course it was closed so it took about 10 minutes to wander around the handkerchief-sized place looking at signs for flowers / plants that are long dead.
NT should give this place to the council to use it as a park, it's so small it's not worth charging for. If we weren't members I'd ask for my money back, it was extremely disappointing.

Being an ardent supporter of the National Trust it upsets me to give any of its properties a single star but in my experience the organisation of this NT property hardly raises to that accolade.
During this difficult time while booking and attending any NT property I have followed the rules on the NT’s website to the word booking on line if necessary etc. However following the guidelines in the NT main website regarding Westbury Court Gardens no booking was needed for the Wednesday we intended to arrive neither was there any mention of parking restrictions. However when we attended and after some shunting back and forth in the very small on-site car park we managed to park. Then while trying to book in we were informed by a very jobs worth attendant that a “no booking - no parking” rule was being applied. I have never come across a NT volunteer before that was anything but helpful and obliging but this lady was blunt to the point of being rude. So, even as a long standing member, we were literally ordered out of the car park, that I had taken so much time to park correctly in a space, and bluntly advised that there may be some parking in the village. After managing to leave the car park, against the flow of traffic on the narrow access road squeezing past cars that presumably would also be rejected and forced to turn around we left vowing never to return to this particular property again.
Sorry NT not a good showing firstly giving no indication on the NT website that booking was needed because of the problems with parking and then using very unhelpful staff to try and sort out a problem that they were so obviously ill equipped to deal with.
Poor show that could possibly make members like myself switch alliance to English Heritage.

In a pleasant situation near to the Severn with some good riverside pubs in easy distance for pre/post visit, and unlike a lot of NT locations on an A road so easy access. Pleasant greeting and unlike any other NT property we were told to collect any windfall fruit and to try raspberries off the fruit bushes - even pre-Covid a number of properties seemed to leave produce unpicked and rotting on the plants, with the closure of cafes and staff reductions extending this so great to see them put to good use. Fish food available for the number of large carp which people of all ages will enjoy. Not the largest gardens but well laid out, tended and labelled with some huge ancient trees. Well worth a visit, but its size may mean you want to combine with other places if travelling from out of area

I am a local and have not been here in years. We took our 3 children (8,11,13) and our 2 dogs to visit, we will be back. Lovely gardens and so nice to be able to visit with the dogs. The kids got fish food and loved feeding the fish who we’re waiting - they knew! A lovely picnic area and fun playing ball. Take your children they will enjoy feeding the fish, and looking at the history, fruit bushes and climbing the tower. We will be back picnic in tow!

Travelling to Cheltenham from Wales, we booked to visit Westbury Court Gardens as our lunch stop. This was an excellent decision. The car park is right by the entrance and we were very impressed with the attractive gardens we found when we went in. There are two large pools, one full of amazingly fat carp, which swim towards you with their open mouths just breaking the surface. Colourful displays of tulips and forgetmenots made a cheerful prospect, and it was interesting to read a notice about the history of rabbit warrens, an unusual feature, though devoid of rabbits. A huge holm oak, and a tulip tree were also interesting. We were fortunate to be able to get one of the undercover picnic tables, convenient for the toilets and for the car park. In the picnic area was a very saddening display about the history of the site, how several houses had been built and demolished, the most recent, a Victorian house, sold to a London property company who demolished it, to build some houses on its site, which doesn’t seem to have happened. An unsightly old peoples’s home overlooks the gardens, nice for the residents but rather an eyesore to visitors. There is a small shop and second hand book stall at the entrance, kept by a helpful lady with a stock of reference books to answer any queries. A very enjoyable visit, a good choice.

Lovely, well maintained water gardens. Different and unique. We went on a Saturday and managed to park in the car park ok (space for say 10/12 cars?), if not there’s a big lay by close. We were warmly welcomed and given some completely fish food which was lovely for our young daughters (they ask for a donation for any subsequent bags which is fair). We spent around an hour here which is probably maximum without a picnic (plenty of tables). The only reason 4 stars not 5 is the missed opportunity of refreshments. The only offering is instant coffee/tea etc and water/box of juice. The tables overlooking the water looked so inviting and we’d have bought a cream tea or ice cream or coffee and cake etc if there’d been something on offer. Aware there’s other eateries in the area but we wanted to enjoy the gardens for longer and would have been added revenue to the gardens.

Enjoyed this lovely garden today. Saw some beautiful flowers the most beautiful in the walled garden.
The fish are very tame so worth getting some fish food for them which is free for children or a donation for adults.
It's disabled friendly so fine for mobility scooter or wheelchair as very flat..
Don't rush round enjoy your time there. Atm it's by booking a time only.

A charming formal water garden, the planting is simple and has impact.

Visit the Tower: A short flight of steps to go up the tower for delightful views across the garden. The tower is decorated and well maintained.

The ponds have large fish which can be clearly seen from the banks.

The fruit from the apple trees was for sell near the exit and I came home delighted with a bag fall of many varieties of fruit for very little.

We visited during our 6 day break to Gloucester and this was very worthwhile. The day was very wet with rain but this only affected our day in a minor way, the welcome provided by the lady in the reception area was exceptional and helped enormously - thank you. Despite the rain it was possible to have a sheltered picnic / cup of tea and enjoy the gardens. Access through a gate to the church yard was useful, as it was good to see the adjacent tower and inside the church. We fed the amazing fish!

Disappointing - it's very small and there is always noise from the main road. What is there is pretty picturesque, but not as well looked after as a lot of NT properties (or maybe we were unlucky).

Go if you are a NT member and very close, but don't bother if you are far away.
