On the beach of Saint-Guirec is the small chapel of Saint-Guirec (XII century). It contained a wooden statue of St. Guirec. Legend has it that the girls who wished to marry touched the nose of the Apostle's statue, which, being thus disfigured in time, was replaced by a stone statuary.

Tide out and a beautiful sunset. The pictures tell the tale here. Well worth the relaxing stroll down the beach, past the rock pools to the shrine after a nice meal and wine in a local restaurant just beside the beach. Very relaxing, humbling and a lovely end to an evening.

Came across this unexpectedly although I had read about it in my guide book. Probably would look best surrounded by the sea but then it would be difficult to look at unless in a boat. Quite interesting and unusual.

This is a statue of Saint-Guirec on the beach. Because of the tides, it is accessible at times and not at others. The nose is missing due to those develish young ladies who stick pins in the poor saint's nose hoping to find a husband!

This is on the beach and the tide needs to be partly out to reach it. I have never come across on oratoire situated on the beach before. Well worth looking at.

Very pretty little cove; worth timing your visit to see it at both low and high tides. At low tide you walk out past the oratory onto the sandy beach which is dotted with huge boulders which are then covered at high tide. The spring tide even covers the base of the oratory.

Rocks to climb, rock pools to explore, clean beach and then there's the shrine which is very unexpected.

Walking the coastal path, and came across this little shrine. The base gets covered at each high tide, and all is submerged at spring tides. Fascinating, and a very attractive bay and village (best kept village prize in 2015).

I was surprised by how spectacular the cove and the rocks are. There is a walking track off to the left that takes you through the huge boulders and around the coast for more stunning viewpoints. It's not a long walk but requires step climbing and some rock navigation. You can walk the coast track and back through the village by road to where you started. The whole wall would only be a kilometre. Nice restaurants, gift shop, coffee shop etc in the small village. Lots of free parking. Public toilets near the parking area.

If you are in the area it is worth having a look at this Oratoire. It is interesting but not spectacular. the local church is however well worth a visit. Some interesting stain glass windows.
