The shrine of Lord Mallikarjuna picturesquely situated on a flat top of Nallamalai Hills, Srisailam is reputed to be one of the most ancient kshetras in India. It is on the right side of the River Krishna in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh. This celebrated mountain is also named as Siridhan, Srigiri, Sirigiri, Sriparvatha and Srinagam. It has been a popular centre of Saivite pilgrimage for centuries.

The prominence of this Divya Kshetram is highlighted by the fact that while performing our daily household rituals we specify place of location of our existence with reference to Srisailam

Loved every bit of the journey, APSTRC Bangalore-Srisailam-Bangalore Bus service could have been a better one. Booked our stay at Gouri Sadan(Online Booking Only - Rs. 700[AC]/day/8AM-8AM). Delayed arrival at temple town did not deter our spirits and we made it to the sanctum within an hour. The Darshan in itself was peaceful and enlightening. We covered both Lord Shiva... More

I was lucky to visit during the annual festival, which sees an influx of thousands of pilgrims from all over India. There are processions during the day and music and dances at night within the boundaries of the temple. Plenty of sculptures. A very rewarding and unforgettable experience.

At the security gate we were surpised to learn that the ladies have to cover their head which entailed buying a chunni for 100/- rupees. avoidable expenditure. there... More

The normal darshan time is around 1-2 hrs depending on your arrival time. But the most frightening part about the place is finding accomodation especially for a solo traveler. I was... More
