About
The shrine of Lord Mallikarjuna picturesquely situated on a flat top of Nallamalai Hills, Srisailam is reputed to be one of the most ancient kshetras in India. It is on the right side of the River Krishna in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh. This celebrated mountain is also named as Siridhan, Srigiri, Sirigiri, Sriparvatha and Srinagam. It has been a popular centre of Saivite pilgrimage for centuries. The prominence of this Divya Kshetram is highlighted by the fact that while performing our daily household rituals we specify place of location of our existence with reference to Srisailam

Well Maintained temples and it's premises and nicely maintained accomodation
Visited for Mallikarjun jyotirlinga and Brahmarambika Shakit Peeth. The only place in India where Jyotirlinga and Shakti peeth is under 1 roof. We went for Alankar darshan and Sparsha darshan. Alankar darshan is very they allow you to see jyotirlinga in decorated form and in Sparsha they literally allow you to touch the jyotirlinga. Alankar however is nothing different, what you get in 500 Rs is the same what you will get to see in free darshan queue also, only thing what matters is time. However it's better to book your darshan tickets online to avoid last moment rush. Shaktipeeth is in same premises hence same queue follows. Accomodations are also nicely maintained with clean and big rooms. Ganga Sadan and Gowri Sadan are near to temple with decent food options available nearby. Ganesh Sadan is almost 3 Kms from temple. It has been recently build hence no food option near by and bit far from temple. Distance is the only difference between 1000 Rs (Ganga and Gowri) and 2000 Rs (Ganesh Sadan) rooms. Rooms are spacious, however since they don't provide extra bedsheets or blankets only 2-3 adults can occupy as they give 1 king size bed only. It's better to book accomodation online. Near Reception office, there is a place Sai Shankar restaurant which serves good food and also provides dormitories. Other places for sightseeing are Patalganga where you will have rope car and boating option (nothing much as rope car is hardly 1 min pass and boating is like 20 mins but nothing attractive or river like feel) Sakshi Ganpati is at a distance of 10 mins drive from main temple where you need to visit first and then go to main temple darshan.

    Great experience
Great experience. Long drive from mumbai. The drive up the hill of around 35 kms is an experience. Has online booking facilities. Should use. Well managed. Cannot take mobiles bags etc inside and has to be stored outside. Not many fancy restaurants. Have to enter before 9pm as the road up the hill is closed from 9 pm to 6am. Can do a day trip if staying nearby. Has market area near in case need to buy sandalwood powder paste etc

    Srisailam Temple
I took may parents there in Jan23 end. Stay in hyderabad and hired a day taxi for travel from and back to hotel. Journey is good, the outer peripheral roads and shops area was undergoing some renovation. you have to deposit luggage at one place, mobile at another place and footwear at third place, may be due to construction work. but it was painful for old parents. Temple was very good, systematic & organised. even though it was long que, the line was moving , so it took around 1 hr for darshan. recommended to visit before 12:30 or after 4 pm. in afternoon its very hot. carry water bottles. for elderly its better to carry folding chair so that they can sit when they get tired. Prasad thing is somewhat different, you go to back side of devi temple, first pay for the prasad, carry the slip to other counter for getting the prasad by showing the slip. seemed too much commercialised. if you want bag, they charge it extra.

    Well Organised Temple
Well organised temple with transparent booking facilities. We did perform Chandi Homam and Abhishekam that was exceptionally conducted by the brahmins with very good explanation of process. All bookings are online and no counters for the same except for normal darshan.

The entire Drive from Hyderabad is quite a smooth ride. Just be careful once you enter Andhra pradesh. In the Villages of Sundipenta and Eegalapenta, local loot the travellers if they stop their cars. There is no Law and Order in Andhra pradesh. Rest is alla smooth ride

    Jyotirlinga of Shivji
Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple is in Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh. It is a temple which is a jyotirlingam as well as shakti peetham. It is around four and half hour drive from Hyderabad. If you are planning to visit the temple, you can also book tickets online from Srisailam Devasthanam website, for an early darshan, or getting a rudra abhishek. Also if you want to go inside the garbh graha, wearing traditional Indian dress, like dhoti or pyjama is compulsory. The temple is of great historical importance in Hindu history, one can find reference to the temple in both Ramayana as well as Mahabharata. One can undertake the darshan and come back to Hyderabad the same day.

We started from Hyderabad at around 2 pm. Drove in a taxi 220 kms and reached Srisailam around 6.30 pm and checked into the Andhra Pradesh Govt Hotel Harita. This is the best hotel in Srisailam and can be booked online at the AP Govt Tourism website. Rates vary from Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,800.

The Jyotrilinig is walking distance from this hotel, takes about 10 minutes walk. We went there at 8 pm on the same day . Took Rs 300 Special Darshan coupon. With this coupon we got into the fast line and got darshan in about half an hour. Not too much rush at this hour. Morning is more rush.

After darshan at this temple, devotees should visit the 12 different jyothirlingas on waer, air, fire, etc etc,

Thereafter in the same complex is the important Bharamaramba Shaktipeeth. The neck of Sati is supposed to have fallen here. Not much rush here and it takes about 10 minutes for darshan.

On the way forward or back, do not forget to visit Sakshi Ganesha Temple. This Ganesha Temple to the Andhra people is what Siddhivinayak is to the people are Maharashtra.

Left next morning after a nice breakfast at the hotel.

The drive through the 70 kms of Tiger Reserve 20 kms before Srisailam is really excellent. All through the 70 kms there is no shop, no stopping place and desirable not to stop, A few kms before Srisailam one can stop and have a good view of the dam on the river Krishna. A not to be missed 5 minute break.

Shrishailam is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and situated around 230 Km from Hyderabad. Its about four & half hours drive. There's a shakti peeth also within the temple... so its a unique temple where both Jyotirlinga & shakti peeth are in the same place. The roads are pretty decent and pass through some forest areas with very scenic backdrop of mountains, dams also. The road is closed in the evening after 6 PM, or so. So, one should plan to stay overnight, if one wants to perform puja etc. Even if one goes just for a darshan, same day return can be very hectic and a bit risky. There are hardly any decent eateries on the way, so its better to carry packed food. Best time to visit is during November - February period. The tickets for Abhishekam etc. can be & should be booked online and hard copy alongwith original aadhar cards to be carried to the temple premises. We had booked for the evening abhishekam in the Garbha griha, which is a bit expensive. But morning abhishekam are less costly but done outside under a tree. For gents, only dhoti & uttariya (to cover the body) are allowed and sarees for ladies. One can buy the laddu prasad after the puja. In the night, one can see the reflection of the top of the temple in water in a particular place.

We took our cab from Nampalli station and began the journey at 7.00 am. The Kurnool highway was smooth and broad having a speed limit of 80kmph. The main attraction is the great forest through which we reach the holy mountains of Sri Sail. We spotted many herds of Indian macaque enjoying the morning sunlight. The road is very less frequented with sparse traffic. The Dindi dam is seen with water overflows the reservoir wall. The 160 km ( up & down) jungle ride saw us peacock, monkeys, and wild boar. After having breakfast at one Sai Dhaba en route the jungle cruise began. The view from a point gives us a panoramic view of the curly roads and hairpin bends before and after the Krishna cross-over. Photography is done here by zealous cameramen. So, before 2km we halted at Sakshi Ganapathy temple and took darshan there. Reaching Sri Sailam town, we rented a Devasthanam room and got ready for the darshan of Sri Mallikarjun and goddess Brahmarambha. No queue, went straight while chanting the mantra of IIOm Namah Shivay II While most of the sightseeing was not open due to Covid. We went on a shopping spree and brought some books and other paraphernalia before taking our lunch at Hotel Sai. It was already more than 5 hours we spent in the hilly town and then by 5.30 pm we started our return journey reaching Hyderabad by 10 pm. with ever lingering memories associated with the Lord, His Consort, and the beautiful mountains, verdant forests, wildlife, spiraling roads and bluish waters of Krishna.

We started ftom Mumbai by hussain sagar express. This train is very old and not so clean.
Delayed by 45 minutes We reached hyderabad aroind 1 pm.
Had booked a 2 days return ac cab through cabbazar.
Andhra state charges ₹360 as entry fee to state and 100 rs as entry fee to srisailam. This is a bizarre, why double taxation?
We didn't have any room reservation so we had to serach a decent place to stay. Fortunately we got decent ac double bed room at Karikala satram @900. 10 minutes walking distance from shivalay.
Next morning we visited temple.
Temple has atisighra darshan for ₹ 300 but there is not a single board which shows the way to atishighra Q. Even inside the temple complex there is no indicator which shows sigra, atisighra line.
Inside the temple poojary hardly allow you to have proper darshan of jyotirlinga. They kerp pushing.
Just imagine people coming from 1000-2000 km away travel to see the lord Mahadev but one hardly get 2 seconds to have glimpse of mahadev.
Though we prayed lord for vishwa kalyan.
We had return flight 10 in the night. Srisailam to Hyderabad travel time is atound 5 hrs.
We came back mumbai Late night

We visited Sri Mallikarjun jyotirlinga along with maa shakti pitha in same premises in the evening with athi seegra darshan tickets. We performed Puja though there was little crowd in general line. The ladoo was great taste. We spent about a couple of hours in the temple premises. Every staff was helpful and guided us properly. Before entering they offered chairs to sit in a hall and after sometime they asked us to enter.
It was a great time for us. Every thing was disciplined and systematic, the mobile rack and shoe rack. We purchased photos and other items from shops. We feel very much happy.
We also visited Pathal Ganga and Sakhi Ganapathy.
It was a great experience. Thanks to the temple trust for well managing.

We recently had the privilege of visiting Second Jyotirling Sri Malikarjun . The temple is a masterpiece and one of the cleanest and best organised temples in India.
While words cannot describe the ambiance and feeling when one enters the sanctum sanctorum, (one of the few Temples you are allowed to).
They have special Abhishek one can perform and you do not have to depend on Touts.
The entry system is extremely organised.
Its also houses one the Shaktipaths.
Most importantly the staff are extremely cooperative, for reason we cannot name them but their hospitality and support is the best we ever faced in any Temple across the world

Very nice place. we did Sparsh Darshan. completed booking online in afternoon time slot. its 4.5 to 5 hrs drive from Ameerpet Hyderabad.
you have to pass through amrabad forest reserve for about 80 km. its very good drive.
temple is very good. in Sparsh Darshan one can actually touch the shivling. place inside the temple is very less so no pradakshina allowed.
Prasad counters are on the main road. one of the counters you pay and get coupon and then go to other counter to get the laddoos.
