Very enjoyable and interesting

Our two guides were very knowledgeable and keen to increase our awareness of the abundance and variety of sea life along the coast line. We were all fascinated to discover that many of the exhibits were found locally and our grandchildren were inspired to immediately go searching in the rock pools when we left the Lab. The exhibition was laid out using small but well-stocked tanks. Both guides welcomed questions and had some fascinating facts to impart as well as relating personal stories about their own experiences with the sea creatures we saw. We learned about pollution of the oceans and about research that is currently under way to tackle the problem of plastics in the ocean. The 75 minutes we spent there went so quickly - we could have spent longer!

The aquarium was much smaller than expected, but Cliff and Lloyd were knowledgeable and very friendly. They answered any questions that we had and was an interesting visit. It was lovely to here about there current projects and what they’re working towards, as well as being able to see some of the sea life we have on the Welsh Coast, especially the velvet crab and nurseshark

Small but very interesting

Smaller than we expected but with a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide we found it very interesting place to visit. No very large tanks as per sea life aquariums, but lots of small ones each with a story to tell

So would recommend a visit. Parking is fine and place to eat next door. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. There was a wait to our tour time but staff directed us to a god [lace to see porpoises out at sea

Enthusiastic volunteers bring the exhibits to life
Sep 2021
We were shown round the tanks of sea life by two enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers, graduates in marine biology and clearly in love with all the sea creatures. We learned a lot, saw things we have never seen before. Tiny flatfish that can change their spots to fit in with their background. Ghostly moon jellyfish. A lobster who has lost a claw but will grow back 2 new ones next time he moults. If you are intrigued and fascinated by the variety of life under the waves, this is the place for you.

An interesting and informative experience showing of the life in our seas
Sep 2021 • Couples
We went here on a wet day for the aquarium tour.

The guide showed us the room with descriptions of various sea creatures plus some stuffed one. They were good to demonstrate the various sizes of them. Then the room with the various aquarium in them. Each had a different type of creature from various fish, crustaceans & sea anemones. They demonstrated well the different creatures around our shores.

There were also lots about the problems of the oceans including discarded fishing gear, plastics etc.

This is a charity so not the same as commercial aquarium as the fish are returned to the sea after a short while as exhibits.

An interesting and informative experience.

Small but very interesting

A terrific place to go if you care about the ocean. Our guide was knowledgeable and clearly very enthusiastic about what he did. There's not many things to see but what there is is very relevant to the local marine environment, and is explained well. A great place to spend an hour if it's raining outside.

We did the guided tour with Lloyd he was amazing, very knowledgeable and passionate about the work he did

Lloyd kept everybody fully engaged adults and children and we got a lot out of it, such as learning a lot about what’s in the local shores and the environment.

Lovely afternoon Thank you.

Simply superb - small but perfectly formed

The Ocean Lab / Sea Môr Aquarium really is an object lesson in how a small aquarium can work well. This isn’t a Sea Life Centre style whistle stop tour of massive tanks and superstar marine life such as sharks and turtles, rather this is a locally focussed and more considered approach.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, our entry was pre-booked and part of a two family (max) guided visit. The visit lasted a shade under an hour, and our tour guide Lloyd (a marine biologist) was both incredibly knowledgeable but also very friendly and approachable - pitching his mini-talks for each tank to suit both the adults and children (aged 5 and 8) in the group well - which was no mean feat! The visit started with a look at various skeletons and bones, and a range of exhibits about both local marine life but also the research and conservation work the charity does, all of which was very informative. Barring a couple of rescued terrapins, all of the animals are local to Fishguard which the kids were fascinated by - helped by fun facts from Lloyd along with a constant stream of questions being answered! The access to both the ‘normal’ information panels and to Lloyd’s fantastic knowledge made the trip massively more enjoyable than other aquariums we’ve visited - I cannot recommend highly enough!
