Wonderful chocolate heaven in the country
We had a wonderful unexpected stop at Hazel Mountain on our way through Ireland. The cake and coffee in the cafe was delicious and Marie gave us a brilliant overview of the factory and how the yummy chocolates are made. The only job now is to try and not eat the gifts we bought before we get home

Superb Chocolate, all made in house
We drove past the Hazel Mountain Chocolates on a maps detour to save some time on our drive. We were not disappointed. The chocolate was excellent, the stop to get out and stretch our legs was needed, and we were able to peruse the local Irish crafts and goods in the store. If we had the ability to buy some and bring them back home with us, we would have without question. The chocolate was one of the best road trip snacks we had during our trip. If we had known about this place before setting off on our journey it would have been a necessary stop.

    Chocoholics dream
The smell of chocolate was beautiful in the shop, hot chocolate was the best i’ve ever had. This is good from a total chocoholic. Could have spent an arm and a leg. Great selection to buy and take home. Over all a little gem. Well done guys!

    Best chocolate !
As part of our little tour around Clare, Galway, Mayo, came across this gem of a place of . Definitely worth a visit, beautiful chocolate ! Probably spent so much more than I would normally but the lady who served us (Marie) was so knowledgable and helpful. Would definitely go again, when this chocolate runs out !

Delicious, inviting and lovely place to stop
Really well positioned in a valley. The factory is clean and fully stocked with a craft shop, chocolate shop and separate cafe. Staff were friendly and up for chatting which is always nice. You get to see into the whole chocolate making operation via the shop and the chocolate itself if amazing! Well worth stopping in if you're traveling around the coast. I would also sugges you drop into the abbey ruined which is just down the road from the factory.

    Stop here!
We saw the sign for chocolate and had to check it out. So glad we did! First, we went into the cafe. I got the Cacao latte and my gf had the hot chocolate. Both were 🔥 . The treats were great too. And we absolutely love one of their employees. Brownie the dog was so friendly and attentive. She visited everyone and sat quietly for pets. We then made our way around back to the shop and factory. We were given a sample of their milk chocolate. Move over Belgium and Switzerland, Hazel Mountain is coming for you. Sooo good! We definitely recommend stopping in and trying it out. And if you see Brownie, give her all the pets and tell her we said hi.

We stopped by and were excited to sample the hot chocolates. Very disappointed for the price we paid, hot chocolate had very little taste and the brownie was the same, tasteless and dry.

Expected a lot better for the price of it, definitely a tourist trap.

I went to Hazel Mountain Chocolate with my Mum and I shocked to find what I did.

Everything is wildly over-priced and clearly a tourist trap. The cakes look beautiful in an Instagram kind of way, but they were dry and inedible and ridiculously expensive.

However, by far the worst experience I had at the factory was watching the owner Kasha interact with the workers in her establishment. She was condescending, rude and downright mean to them when they were clearly working very hard. They would be in the middle of serving a customer and she would walk over and criticise them and send them away with their tail between their legs. I could not fathom how anyone would want to work there based off that one experience.

The only redeeming experience of the whole day was meeting Giles in the chocolate factory. I had so hoped that he was the owner as I wanted to come back, but he is not and I will not be. Your workers deserve to be respected, as they are the beating heart of your business. Kasha managed to leave a bad taste in my mouth strong enough to never return. However, I wish Giles the very best as he did his absolute best to make the experience a lasting one.

My friends and I took a day trip from Galway to Hazel Mountain Chocolate. The tour was fantastic and we learned so much about chocolate making. John is so passionate about what he does and welcomed questions which made the experience so much better. The chocolate is divine- I would very much recommend the tour.

WoW ... My wife and I came across this little find whilst exploring the the Burren on West coast of Ireland. We had super tour of the chocolate factory by English man who spent over 30 mins taking us through the production of the chocolate. We could even see the guy producing and roasting the chocolate. The tour was free and we got to sample the chocolate.

We then took in the Irish produce shop where we met the most amazing English lady called Helen. She explained all about the products, where they were sourced from and how they were produced. She helped my wife select so great gift and beautiful scarf and hat. She spoke on the area, and where we should take in next. Made our visit amazing.

Before we left with our chocolate we called into the coffee shop and tried the amazing homemade carrot cake & hot Chocolate. Both were amazing and full of flavour.

We will be back in winter 2020 and look forward to seeing the two English guys at venue. 5 star spot!

We Brought a selection of the individual chocolates. Quite pricey at 12 euros for 6 and no samples to try to see which we would prefer so it was pot luck. We only enjoyed the Earl Grey chocolates, the others, the pistachio one and tahini ones where really disappointing, verging on being unpleasant. I'm sure the quality of thier blocks of chocolate are good and wish we brought a couple of them instead. Essentially we paid 12 euros for 2 chocolates that were edible. It feels this place does well enough off the tourists buses that there isn't much effort put into the experience itself when choosing. Just some little samples would help, that way we would probably have brought more and not been disappointed. Hot chocolate in cafe was lovely though.

This place is very well designed for covid 19. Everything is nicely separated, social distance is maintained and the one way system works well. It is very hard to break as you pay for your coffee then walk out a separate door. I saw a guy try to walk in the wrong way but was quickly stopped by the staff member. Staff wearing masks, only thing that was lacking, was hand sanitizers. We ordered a hot chocolate and latte which was nice a little pricey but it's a tourist type place at the end of the day.

Me and my family stopped here, we booked a tour online and Katie was our tour guide it was a great experience, learning about chocolate the kids and I really enjoyed it. Got lots of samples and new really understand what bean to bar chocolate means.
We also went to the cake and got carrot cake and brownie, I can say it was the best cakes we've gotten in the west of Ireland.

Stumbled upon this chocolatier in the middle of our drive, and right at their closing time. Employees were very welcoming regardless and let us have a look, as well as another couple who arrived at the same time. The products looked great, but we only had one piece of chocolate due to each piece being 1 euros or more. But, I had to try the Earl Tea and Lavender since it was very unique and it was really tasty. If the prices were not so high then we would have likely purchased more, but their loss. The building was small, clean and had tables outside for people to enjoy their products and could be nice break on a long drive.
