Nice village in a beautiful setting.

This little village justly deserves its fame. It´s amazingly cute and well-preserved. In the middle of a beautiful landscape, Bárcena is made up of an array of stone houses with wooden balconies and a few cobbled alleys, its rural architecture has no strange elements breaking its general harmony. In this modest urban settlement even its edges are perfectly embeded in the green scenery, there aren´t ugly or neglected surrounding areas here. But don´t forget this is a small hamlet, there´s no much to see or do besides spoiling yourself with a good meal, enjoying the landscapes and its quiet or doing some shopping in the few local shops.

One of the most beautiful villages in Spain

Picturesque old mountain village hidden amidst the hills of Cabezon de la Sal. Undoubtedly worth visiting it, especially for the old (restored) houses, cobbled streets and the typical products sold by genuine producers. Do not miss the local cuisine! There's a free car park 500 m from the village. Enjoy!

Quaint tourist village
Jul 2017 • Couples
This is pitched as an Artisan village and has several artisan shops where some of the items are locally made but a lot you can buy anywhere. The village itself is very picturesque with only local residents vehicles allowed. The streets are cobbled with large pieces of local sandstone.

Ensure you park in the free car park on approach to the village as turning round at the village entrance is a bit tight.

There are plenty of local restaurants that offer a mixture of local cuisine.

The most beautiful village in Spain!

This is a 'must see'. Authentic houses in a isolated village in the mountains. It takes a little drive to reach this location, but it is worth it!

Picturesque but very busy on weekends
Aug 2016 • Couples
This small village is nestled in the hills at the end of the Valle de Cabuerniga. It has recently been restored and is now a major tourist destination, particularly on weekends when people from nearby towns come to walk around shops selling locally-made wooden items and food products. Visitors arrive around 12 noon for lunch and to browse in shops. Non residents are not allowed to drive into the village, but must leave their cars in the area above the village and then walk down a well-made path to reach the shops and restaurants. The car park is full by 1pm and there with nowhere else to park. The village is picturesque and at the end of a pleasant drive along the valley.

A lovely Old Village
Sep 2015 • Couples
This is a lovely old village in the process of restoration. It's in a lovely area [therefore a nice drive to get there] with good walks. There are some very nice restaurants serving regional specialities - this is mountain & hunting country.

Lovely traditionl village
Sep 2015 • Couples
We had a proper Spanish afternoon - eating our main meal at lunch time for a change and drinking wine. We felt very relaxed afterwards and then went for one of the walks that are recommended near by. We bought a lovely cow bell in one of the traditional craft shops which sounds great in our garden now. The village is made of the original, traditional ways of building houses and flowers trail off balconies everywhere. We found the afternoon quite enchanting in this lovely location among the mountains.

Sejos
Sep 2013 • Friends
Near Barcena Mayor is Saja-Besaya Natural Park. Inside the Park is Mountain Meadow Sejos. It's a beautiful área. I usually go in autumn, in late September, to listen rutting the venisons. The venisons rut at sunrise and at nightfall. You can see them in the top of the mountains. You can sleep in cabins or tents. Cars can't enter. You have to go on foot. The nights are wonderful. You see millions of stars and you think that you can catch them with their hands
