One of the most beautiful churches I have seen. The walls are covered with very well preserved frescoes and the floor with the most amazing tiny mosaic tiles. The place has a lovely atmosphere similar to Torcello in Venice.

This abbey was built about a thousand years ago with many of the buildings rebuilt and updated. There are lovely frescoes and grounds. It is very photogenic. It is also of great historic interest.

Worth the detour - Nice architecture and free visit. There is not a lot to see in the area but you'll be amazed by that abbey if you pass by.

On saturdays and sundays volunteers give you access to the bell tower. The Abbey is a beauty, the floor of the church fabulous, frescoes on the walls.

Our tour group made a stop at the Abbey in Pomposa. As we approached, the tower from different angles looked as though it was leaning..The grounds and Abbey give a very peaceful feeling. Upon entering there are arches complete with frescoes from the doors to...More
