- John SAlveley, United Kingdom51 contributionsLovely sceneryWhat a beautiful place, recently visited the park. The parking is reasonably priced and if your disabled ♿ you park free with your blue badge. Lovely views of the river severn from the bridge linking alveley and highly together.Visited March 2020Traveled with familyWritten March 15, 2020
- LoraineDerby, United Kingdom5 contributionsDefinitely worth a visitThis is a lovely country park. Several trails, lots of benches and picnic tables, very sweet small sculptures, a large children’s play area, and a good cafe with great views. The dogs particularly loved paddling in the streams. Parking is extremely reasonable. Definitely recommend.Visited May 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten May 4, 2022
- Welltravelleduk454Folkestone, United Kingdom64 contributionsAmazing food in friendly cafe.Fantastic cafe. Walked here from the severn valley railway to see what was on offer and was treated to a perfect jacket potato with salad, hot drink and a teacake. The selection of cakes was great, could have eaten all of them ! I had the cafe nearly to myself yet the food was amazing. Friendly helpful staff. Will certainly visit again if I am ever in the area. Amazing cafe, lovely food, well done :) The bridge over the river and riverside walks were great too. Did come across a shooting party, shooting their way through hundreds of ducks as mentioned in a previous post. Maybe that aspect not great for children but it was quite a long walk away from the visitor centre ( towards Hampton loade ) so most children would never see it.Visited October 2021Traveled soloWritten October 3, 2021

Arranged to meet here on a very hot day. The cafe chalet served lovely cold drinks sandwiches and very good lemon cake. However it was disappointing to see that the only shade for eating was under a covered area with plastic roof and it was like a greenhouse under there. We were forced to eat our nice food in the car with the A/C running.
Someone needs to re-think this. Why could they not open the cafe indoor area as they used to do before COVID. I can see how running it this way made sense under lock down but now with relaxed rules surely the indoor area could be opened again. Please look at this or at the very least provide some fans to keep the outdoor area a bit cooler. This is such a beautiful place to visit so I do not want to knock it. Just improve the eating facilities.

Went with our two grandsons aged 6 and 7. They thoroughly enjoyed the play equipment which is different from the usual found in local parks. The trails were well signposted and perfect lengths as described.
We had lunch at the cafe - reasonably priced freshly made sandwiches. The bread pudding was excellent!
Will definitely return with and without the grandchildren.

Lovely walk, dog is allowed off the lead in most areas. Lovely coffee shop. Dogs can’t go inside but there are tables outside. Quite hilly in places but fantastic views.

My first visit to this park. Large car park, a café and toilets and a visitor centre.
Nice walks around what is an abandoned coal mining area with the black spoil visible in places. Information boards detailing the areas history.
A large area with a footbridge over the river. Walks are mostly paved although steep in places. Riverside walks are not paved and will be muddy in the winter.
A couple of small lakes with bird hides but nothing showing on our visit, possibly due to low water level.
Overall nice place for a stroll and enjoy nature.

Hi
Visited the park today, had a nice lunch in cafe then went into park and along the river path to be surprised by a pheasant shoot along river bank so close to the path that we were on that there was a shot pheasant on the hedge, we were completely dumbfounded to be so close , is this complaint with health and safety I very much doubt it , this is a fabulous family park but we are worried about safety issues can you please assure us that this is 100% safe as today put a lot of doubt in our minds and would not feel safe taking children along this path!!!!!

This is a beautiful Country Park set by the banks of the River Severn with the Severn Valley Railway running alongside.
The Severn Valley Railway has a Request Stop right by the side of the Country Park so superb for a stop off.
The Park is on the site of old quarries and mines and is a wonderful way of reclaiming the land from these operations. There is lots of walking areas through woodland and alongside the Severn. Many of the pathways are tarmac and afford visits by wheelchairs and others are off track. There are many picnic areas and benches and seats dotted around together with signposted walks. It is ideal to birdwatch, steam train spotting, and for dog walking and children to play and enjoy the countryside.
There is a small charge for car parking and the toilets are free. There is also a shop and cafe on site.
Events are held at various times and the site is part of the national cycle route. It is ideal for a short walk or to spend the day in beautiful surroundings.

We have been going to SVCP for...eons....walking thru, fishing, etc.but we took the grand children last week for the first time in 3 years............WOW.
Get yourselves there for a picnic, walk or just to sit and view the quite beautifl scenery whilst watching the birds and listening to the steam train chugging up from Arley..........if it is not heaven....I hope it is very like it.
They now do several open air theatres so take the kids and have a great evening.
I am not going to list all the attractions as the surprises will delight you....if it is wet, take your water proofs and sit on a bench.
Trust me................take the kids they will love it more than any theme park.

Old mining area has been turned into a country park with a great visitor centre doing light lunches and nice gifts. Good toilets and play park. Parking only 1.50 all day. Easy access pond and bird hide. Marked walk ways, you can catch a steam train from the halt about 15 mins walk away. Walk along side the lovely River Severn. We went last week and saw Sand Martins on the river bank. and a bird of prey in a nesting box! There is a bridge over the river and a cycle track so ideal for bikes, (slope down to river). You can walk to the Village of Highley as well. About 10 mins walk to the river and bridge

This country park has some lovely walks which takes you over the river to the Severn valley Railway where you can stop the train and go to either Kidderminster or Bridgenorth. There is also a cafe where you can get an excellent cuppa.

Beautfiful woodland walks, river running by, steam trains chugging along, birds chirping in the trees. Great place to walk your dog and later have a coffee watching the world go by Free to enter, but take some change for the nominal car parking charge.... and the coffee and cake later if desired :)

How far is the Severn a Valley Railway Halt from the car park ?
David B
Leeds, UK326 contributions
The Country Park Halt is a request stop on Severn Valley Railway and is about 10 to 15 minutes walk (downhill) from the Visitor Centre at Severn Valley Country Park. Excellent pathways suitable for wheelchair access but quite steep. The SVR train will stop on request just like a bus stop. When returning be sure to tell the guard that you want to alight to Country Park Halt. Servern Valley Park is a beautiful open scenic location and there is a bird lookout post hidden next to the pool behind the visitor centre.
