For $4 per vehicle this hidden gem is worth a look-see. It's not far from the crowds & busy roads but seems so secluded & peaceful. Rangers were very helpful in explaining the history behind the cabins at Camp Helen. Nature trails to beach were a little rugged. Bathrooms were available in the main bldg & also on nature trail.

If you enjoy a day, walking along trails, with nature all around, kayaking in the Gulf of Mexico, swimming in emerald, green water, camping, listening to wildlife, as you turn in, for the evening, then you need to plan a visit. The park staff are helpful, and friendly, and will provide you with useful information, to make your visit, more meaningful. If you enjoy visiting a State Park, then I recommend purchasing a Florida State Park Pass. I hope my vision is helpful, for your first visit. Be safe out there.

We rented a kayak and paddle board for one adult and two kids (9 and 11). It was very easy to book online and choose our time slot. The equipment was in good condition and the employee working the rental booth was very helpful! We rented for two hours and had a great time. There was a little shaded patio with rocking chairs where you can look out over the water, plus several picnic tables on the shore. The visitors center is right nearby with clean restrooms. We will definitely visit again and explore more of the park!

Spent a 1/2 day at this park. Only about 20 minutes from PCB. Maintained well, large Gulf side BEACH and lake, restored cabins and lodge, concerts on Saturday night. Many easy trails. Nice visitor center.

I’ll preface this by saying we didn’t look too far into reviews before visiting. We had two adults and one 3.5 year old, a beach wagon, cooler and some chairs. We walked out to the beach but it was sooo long and hot and not level enough terrain to easily take the wagon. Once we got near the beach, honestly, the smell of the protected bird area was so strong we didn’t even know where we’d set up. Because we were exhausted and not ok with the smell, we couldn’t venture very far. We basically cooled off for a few, grabbed some water and headed back. The walk back was just as tough (if not worse) with a toddler and a wagon. I would not recommend this for anyone with a similar situation. There are so many great beach access areas with far less to walk. I’m sure the other amenities are good, we just went to experience a different beach but it was not better than what we had already.

We rented kayaks for a four hour trip and was not disappointed. Beautiful scenery was as far as the eye could see. Landing on the inlet beach was the perfect rest stop to enjoy some family time.

I'm a local, and I come here rather often. This place is definitely a hidden gem in our lovely town.
The beach and walking trails are breath taking and worth the effort put into getting to them.

While the beach is lovely, do know that there is a bit of a walk to get there; worth it though if you can manage it.
Not a lot of shade is found on this journey though and the sand is very deep, so can be a chore to get through, but once there it's a lovely sight.

There's a big older house/ building that we were given a tour through, I'm not sure of the schedule but one of the staff was gracious to let us in and talk to us about the history. It was awesome, such a nice little place that I highly recommend. You can rent kayaks and paddle boards here too but I've never done it myself, so I've no opinion on that aspect of the park.

First-stop at the Visitor Center and talk to the docent (hopefully that's Dave Shaw from Newfoundland). Learn about the history of the buildings, the trails, the birds etc. Then get out and walk around the largest dune lake in Florida or hike to the Gulf. Watch for gators and black bears!

Beautiful area. Interesting facts about the camp set on info boards. Nice change of pace from the hustle n bustle of the Big city tourist attraction Stuff. But wish these kind of places were advertised more. Didn’t see much in the guide books for nature trails or state/national parks.

Tucked in between 30A and West PCB, this State park is beautiful. $4 for a car, $2 for a walk/bike in. Numerous historic buildings. Plenty of shoreline to Lake Powell, a fresh water dune lake. Access to the beautiful white sandy beaches and the emerald gulf waters. A few miles of gravel/dirt/paved walking/riding trails.
