Koh Rong Sanloem still is a road- and vehicle-free island with magnificent jungle trails. The former jungle trail from Saracen beach to the lighthouse now guides you directly through cleared and stubbed land instead of the green jungle...because they are planning to build a road...More

My husband and I hiked to the lighthouse during our stay on the bay. It was a nice hike, very hot so bring water. They have done a lot of clearing of trees which is unfortunate, hopefully the island doesn't get overdeveloped. We brought money...More

Part of the jungle (beginning one third) has been destroyed. All the trees in this area are cut down. Some are on the walking path. Our waiter at the hotel told us that parts of the island are sold to Vietnamese and Chinese investors. They...More

This was definitely worth the (about one-one and a half hour) hike uphill, you pay 2$ to the guy guarding the "light house" and you can climb up and the view is really stunning! Saw some sea eagles too and monkeys on our way back...More

The walk to the lighthouse takes about 70 minutes. Parts of the path are onscured because trees have been felled across the path, but it is a nice walk. Wear comfortable shoes and take water. The lighthouse does not have a light, but there is...More
