Quite nice and colorful place, the sea is clean and sparkling. Some improvements nevertheless are to be done: - the toilets were awfully dirty - not enough lounges for guests - not very rich choice of food but overall the eating was ok

Caleta Buena is a picturesque and calm tidal pool that opens to the ocean. You will definitely see fish underwater although not as many as in other places. On the plus side, the water is very calm and clear and perfect for beginner snorkelers. There...More

The setting here is beautiful! The colours of the water and the trees are incredible. Lots of deck chairs around the edges of the water. It’s a well-kept ground. many people loved the snorkelling here. And if you have not snorkelled much before then it...More

Caleta Buena is a protected area of ocean so the water is calm and quite clear. For the admission cost of 15 CUC, you get a buffet lunch and drinks. The lunch was fine, not fancy but adequate. Lunch is served from 12:30 - 3:00...More

Sorry, but I cannot in good conscience give this attraction more than 3 stars. On the plus side, it is a good value, the water is beautiful, and we enjoyed our snorkeling immensely. On the minus side, though, the food buffet was poor. None of...More

A nice spot with a sheltered bay for snorkelling. 15CUC gets you submission, food and drinks. The food is ok and the drinks are served in tiny plastic cups. These cups are discarded everywhere by the end of the day! We hired bikes and cycled...More

Just as others have said, perfectly calm and clear. Fantastic snorkeling conditions! Visited twice during my 7 day stay. For 15CUC, you really can’t beat the value! Especially when lunch and unlimited drinks are included! Ps. If you don’t bring your own snorkel equipment, there...More

Typical buffet and free drinks for a closed price (15CUC) but you will be able to enjoy one of the best natural pool you can find in Cuba. Amazing experience to swim between all these fishes.

Good day, no dive ticket is required. In the sea you can see a variety of corals, fish of all kinds of colors, if you are lucky you can see turtles, sharks difficult to find.

14 day Itinerary? Mom & 17-year-old (1 Reply)
Hello- I've been to Havana but nowhere else in Cuba. Taking 17-year-old Spanish-fluent son with me in March. We are NOT resort people. Interested in people, culture, food, music/art/photography, any hands-on activities, and nature (want to horseback ride in Vinales). Can you weigh-in about the order of places below and if it's too much? We will likely have a private driver. Could make the trip 12 days or could extend to 15...also looking for favorite Casa Particulares. Thanks! Havana ...More

Going by google maps it is 4 hours to Trinidad I would add 2 make it six. Cienfuegos is on the way back say 2 hours. Caleta Buena looks a little hard to get to and I am not sure about casa's there but is on the to the bay of pigs and you will find casa's there. From there it would be 2.5 hours back to Havana. You could rest up there and decide if you wish to go to Vinales which is 2.5 hours in the opposite direction. There are casa's there as well. Any casa owner where you are staying will be...More

Bay of Pigs- Playa Giron Vs. Playa Larga (7 Replies)
Hello! I've planned a day trip to the Bay of Pigs from Cienfuegos so we can snorkel and explore. We are taking the Viazul bus that drops us off in Playa Giron. I have a few questions and thanks in advance!: -Once dropped off in Playa Giron by Viazul, is getting to the beach area walk-able or would you grab a taxi? -We are looking to go snorkeling and possible hang out at Caleta Buena or Punta Perdiz (paying 15CUC for lunch and drinks would be nice) if anyone has been to either of these...More

Caleta Buena is about 10? km from Playa Giron. How many are you? Consider the trip to and from the bus station in Cienfuegos, Viazul tickets, taxi or shuttle bus Playa Giron to Caleta Buena. It may be cheaper and most definitely easier to hire a return trip taxi from Cienfuegos. (Negotiated return trips are cheaper than 2 one way fares) Set it up the day before you want to travel. Years ago, a hotel in Varadero used to put on free day trip to Caleta Buena when a cold front or PMOW made it...More
