We have visited only for a day from Capachica, but I really wished we would have stayed at one of the homestays. The island is beautiful, with terraced hillsides, sheep, stunning views and great hiking opportunities. There are two peaks, Pachamama and Pachatata, with ancient...More

Because of the altitude and the dazzling sun everything is exceedingly bright so you need to be diligent about wearing sunglasses, hats and sunscreen. Taking photographs is also challenging due to the bright light. Amantani, a small island of 3 1/2 square miles, is located...More

I chose an overnight stay here to see how some of the people actually lived. After a 3 hour boat ride from Uros islands, we reached the dock. Their are several communities here which host tourists. Our host house was at the highest point of...More

There is really nothing to compare with staying with a family when you travel. The woman of the house prepares food for you and dresses you up in traditional costume so you can have fun at a party later in the night. The beds are...More

We loved the time we spent on the island of Amantani with our hosts. The walk to the temple of the sun and the moon were very nice, and a bit tiring due to the altitude! The night was wonderful with all those stars. It...More

The standard tours will drop tourists off in time for lunch and pick up the next morning and that's very nice. If you have a little more time it's wonderful to spend a couple of nights. We stayed at the pretty home of Richar and...More
