The sensation of walking through the underground tunnels is unique and you can live such an experience only at Azeville battery.

Our focus for our visit to Normandy was to visit as many of the German defensive positions as possible and we are glad we picked this to be one of them. Not well known or mainstream but the bunkers were impressive.

The first thing to find is the ticket office. Having parked for free in the large gravel area you must make your way back towards the road and the office is located down inside the bunker on your right. The is a small note on...More

See concrete bunkers built to support 4 German artillery cannons used to sink at least one US destroyer on D-day. A shell fired from a battleship hit the rear wall of one of the bunkers and went through 1’ of concrete. Then it ricocheted off...More

One of my favourite sites on our trip to Normandy. Not advertised well or known about much so had to convince our little group it was worth a visit. Everyone was so glad I talked them into it. Tunnels were a big hit with kids...More

By far the best battery in the area due to its size and condition. The audio guide is very good, and had we not been on our way to a ferry, we would have spent longer than an hour exploring it all. Really interesting to...More

My wife and I visited this site eleven years ago, and it was impressive. We went back again during this visit and were blown away! The entire battery has been restored and refurbished. The audio tour is superior and the staff was most helpful. The...More

Incredible mass of concrete, you can see semi-collapsed battery equipped with preserved gun. Also there is a very nice museum describing the history of the battery. Text guide is available in English language. Visited in 9/2012

Spent a good hour here exploring the many passageways and rooms. The hand held guide was very imformative and the admission price very reasonable. However many of the tunnels are quite dark so if you don't like confined spaces explore outside the battery. There are...More

Worth the stop-off but maybe not visit if it is all you want to see. I was too late for film so just looked around. Good info on signs.
