A very good short train ride to the Windermere ferries. Friendly staff and a decent cuppa in the cafe. Only negative they don't do "seniors discount" unlike most visitor attractions. Car park was full so park on the opposite side of the dual carriage way...More

Disappointed with this. We booked the package for £49.00 for a couple, this gave us the train journey to the pier, a boat trip across Windermere to Bowness and Ambleside and then back to the train station. Firstly, the train station is very pretty, there...More

We were a coach party with organised trips around the Lakes. Very enjoyable nostalgic trip but not long enough!

A journey of about 20 minutes from Haverthwaite to Lakeside with a stop at Newby Bridge in between. Fares are reasonably priced. There is an aquarium at Lakeside (entrance fees apply) & a tea room, gift shop & toilets at the station. You can see...More

Fantastic little trip on the steam train, lovely views and very reasonable prices, was so pleased to find this as a little extra something to do!

Been on the train a few times. It is very relaxing. Train journey only lasts about 20 mins each way but very scenic. Plenty of seats on carriages even though quite a few coach trips on the train.

Not a long trip by any means but enjoyable and a reminder of what rail travel was before Dr Beeching savaged steam trains and country lines. No complaints it is what it is.

I am a mainline steam buff really but this was great. It may only be about 4 miles long but it is well worth a visit. Easy parking at the Haverthwaite end, the station is on the main road and not hidden away. Friendly staff...More

What a charming steam railway! We had a wonderful trip, made all the better by the helpful and cheery staff. Reasonably priced.

I have wanted to travel on a steam train for as long as I can remember. I had visions of every steam train being like 'The Flying Scotsman'. The smell of coal burning and travelling at about MPH. However, after boarding the train, it soon...More

Hi I’m not sure of the price as it was a few months ago but we stayed in Bowness-on-Windermere where we booked a boat trip and the steam journey at the same time from the quayside. Sorry couldn’t be more helpful

The railway might be slightly inclined but definitely not “steep”. It is a gentle experience, running along the lakeside through the forest.

You won’t feel the climb. The train takes the strain. You can get on the boat and sail up Windermere
