Well worth the walk (or bike ride as I did) from Maurach. Lovely calm inside with beautiful decorations. Sadly the museum is only open for a couple of hours 3 times a week so I missed that but did sit and have a drink in the restaurant opposite and enjoyed the calm and views.

It takes about 30 minutes to take a pleasant walk from the roundabout in the middle of Maurach to this church, which was recommended to us. Turn left where the road crosses the tracks of the small railway line and stay at the lower level near the ski paths.

Dressed as we were in walking boots we did not explore all of it but the ceiling is remarkable, especially the very ornate plaster work. The window glass is clear, allowing ample light to show off the interior.

This church, now dedicated to St Notburga, patron saint of peasants and farm workers has paintings across the ceiling depicting her life. The church is highly decorated, and very ornate. It isn't very large. Behind the altar is displayed the bones of Notburga herself. I found it somewhat creepy. The skeleton is fully articulated and dressed in a period dress, and overlooks everything in the church. It was an interesting stop en route to Pertisau.
