So nice to see part of history memorialized. The memorial is a nice stop to hit after the dday experience museum.

If you have watched Band Of Brothers this is where Dick Winters lead the assault to take out the the German Battery that was assaulting Utah Beach. It is cool to see and is not really out of the way if you are near Utah Beach. The only gripe is that it is just a field now and it is fenced off. There is not a whole lot do or see, there is a copy of winters map on the stone. . if you to the Ambrose tour you can see more but not if you are on your own or with another group. You will likely need less than 20 minuets at this stop, but it is really cool to see.

Actual location is 1.1 miles south of there. Following the map coordinates above sent me down a long driveway.

This exact location plays a big part in the Band of Brothers, and obviously even more so for the actual Normandy landing. If you have that in mind, this is more than just a little corner at the edge of a farm where cows are walking around and there is a monument by the road.
It is a private property so it is not much you can see or do, but still an important place to remember.

Our Procom tour ate lunch right down the road and we were surprised when our bus stopped in the intersection of this narrow country road. All we saw was a large pasture with grazing horses, Then our tour director took over and explained where we were.. For all the die hard history buffs and Band of Brothers Fans we knew exactly where we were, Brecourt Manor. Quiet now but with a little imagine, you're there where the German Guns were silenced by Winters and his men. Now all you see is a peaceful pasture, a couple of beautiful curious horses, I was fresh out of carrots by the way and a memorial that tells their story. Doesn't get much better than that.

What a beautifully done corner to remember what went on the day. Being in Normandy in June of 2017 was like reliving history.

This monument is not far from the Lt Winters' monument. From the Lt Winters' Monument you drive SW (back to Sainte-Maire-Du-Mont), after 350 meters you turn right (direction NE) 400 meters further on your left side you will see the Easy Company Brecourt Monument. If you want to see the actual place where they destroyed the 4 canons, you take the little road at the left side of the monument and walk 0,5 km. It will be on your right side. Be aware this is private property.

Our guide, Chris from Navy & Co. made this memorial site come alive. Chris took out his IPad and ran the Brecourt Manor clip from Band of Brothers. WOW!! Seeing the clip and looking out over the battle field brought to life what Lt. Winters and Easy Co. accomplished the day.

Here you'll see the actual site of Dick Winters and his 506th Easy company Band of Brothers in action at Brecourt Manor, as has been recounted on the excellent HBO series. Actually, hard to imagine being here and walking the ground and orchards. The manor house is nearby. Nice memorial to the 101st in place. Be sure to visit the Lt. Winters bronze up near St. Marie du Mont, I believe.

This was the site were Lt. Dick Winters led troops to destroy three German artillery pieces threatening the Normandy landings. His leadership and this and his men's courage not only earned them individual medals, but served as an example of small unit assault techniques that are still taught at West Point.
