A beautiful castle with a lot of history. Now it hosts an amazing art collection: Rafael, Van Dyck, Guido Reni. The owner really cares about art and visitors: he was so kind as to guide me personally around the castle. A beautiful moment of my journey to Piedmont.

We were, me and my family, in Piemonte region and we visited many castels in the Aosta valley, near Torino and Milano. Actually, we discovered the Castel of Roppolo through a restaurant that we went for lunch. We went in the morning to the castel of Masino, very cold with no soul and really not welcoming staff. After lunch we went to visit another castel, very difficult to find due to lake of road signs. Roppolo!

When we arrived, we first experienced a very welcoming staff that made our stay and visit, one of the best we had for years! Frankly speaking, we were very surprise to find such a treasure in the Alps skirts and went through a visit with no ending surprises. The Castel is absolutely well maintained and restored with splendid furnitures and very high level art works. Raphaelo, Vand Dick, il Guercino, il Bassano, il Dominiquino, Velasquez, Guido Reni, il Albane, Galla, Rubens, the titian, and a long list of private master-pieces are just unbelievable. I never expected to see so much artworks from Rubens to some old masters that made our visit the more interesting one we had for a while.
I do not know the owner of the castel as he was not present but i need to thank him to be crazy enough to share his huge collection with visitors. As an Art lover and compulsory museum visitor i must confirm that the visit went extremely well and that we discovered a very well decorated jewell.
I will come back every year to this place and always keep in my memory, the beauty and refined atmosphere of that incredible place.
Thanks again to the very gentle guide as she made our visit a huge pleasure moment and thanks to nature to have made such a beautiful view on the Alps, the vivron lake and that special crazy landscape.

If you are in the area its a must do. Has something for everyone - art, views, history, wine, beautiful bar on the terrace. Excellent English speaking guide, despite her claims that her English was poor - and so knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our time.

We walked over from Viverone which was enjoyable in itself, and waited on the terrace with a breath taking view of the valley until the castle reopened after lunch. Our guide was a lovely young lady who spoke excellent English and explained so many interesting things during the one hour tour, besides answering our questions. It was all so fascinating - especially the descent into the dungeon where the remains of the unfortunate Bernardo di Mazze, still lie. A Must-See for history enthusiasts.

The castel is optimal and the guide so well educated and prepared. The place is gorgeous and very interesting. All daily life objects are displayed!

The visit to Roppolo have been certainly the best one in Piemonte and our guide was just amazing. Just mentioning her name, mrs Tina.

Hope to come back next year to see the restauration progress.

Thanks again for this incredible moment!

The castle at Roppolo is at the top of a steep hill but it is well worth the climb (assuming you are approaching it on foot).

The castle is still privately owned which perhaps explains why it is well maintained.

The guided tour was interesting. Parts of the castle date back to 500 AD, and it at one time played host to Napoleon.

Came across the castle by chance, while passing through Ropollo. Decided to stop off. As we were the only visitors we had our own personal guide. Valentina gave us a fantastic tour. The whole place is very interesting and Valentina passed on a wealth of information. Lots of fabulous things to learn about. She answered all of our questions perfectly, with pride in her job and patience. She made our visit memorable. Thank you Valentina.
