We were driving through Valtellina and made a stop in Sondrio to try some of the local wine. We found their winery and wineshop, and we were lucky because there was an American family who had booked a tasting, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to have a tasting.
The tasting was good and professional, but we were a bit irritated, since we bought quite a few bottles, but still had to pay for the tasting. That has never happened elsewhere.

My friend and I saw the vinyards on the mountains as we were going by on a train, we emailed our hotel to setup a tour and the next day we were able to have a private tour and tasting. Monica was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to see all the cellars and learn how the wines were made. The tasting was comprehensive and delicious!! After the tour we had lunch across the street in a local restaurant with the most delicious food!! It was a perfect side trip while staying in Lake Como.

You must book a visit in this cantina. It´s a old house and the cantina is very large on several floors. If you are lucky you may have a tasting of the top ranked wines.

the place was opened for us on Sunday which we were very grateful. The visit of the cellars is very impressive. The wine tasting is really worth the EUR 10. That's a great price to try 3 nice wines with some food!!! And we all got a few bottles to bring back at some very reasonable rates. I would definitely go back to try and buy more!

Nino Negri as a producer and the Valtellina as a wine region are not very well known in most of the US, but a trip here is well worth it to get to know both of them better. The wines are excellent and and excellent value and our tour and tasting host (Sara) is an incredibly engaging companion. We booked the tour that also had local cheeses and meats as an accompaniment to the tasting and they were delicious. Sara also helped us book lunch for after our tour at the Fracia restaurant nearby that Nino Negri owns for a great 4 course meal featuring local dishes. Well worth the drive from the Grand Tremezzo hotel (about 1 1/2 hours each way)

Sara was delightful and knowledgeable about wine, the winery, region and history. The wine is very good and the winery is well worth the visit followed by a hillside lunch at Fracia.
