- Nicolle WilkinsonYuma, Arizona68 contributionsMarsovin Cellars Tour & Tasting Unique!RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. Claudio Micci, the events coordinator, gives a lovely small group tour and tasting of their process and delicious wines. They can also do small private group dinners. Because they produce very small quantities, they don't export, so you must go in person to try their wines.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 9, 2024
- parkerprMiami, Florida184 contributionsAttention oenophilesThis is the essential tour for wine enthusiasts at any level. The tour begins with a history lesson in Malta and wine then discusses the Cassar family and their journey into making world class wines. The cellar tour was well done with a great education on the wine making process and the in-depth look at the process of making fine sparkling wine. The tasting with a platter of local delicacies was the highlight of an enjoyable experience. We tasted some amazing wines with local specialties that made the experience unique. Ensure you taste the locally sourced olive oil with the bread, simple delicious. Ensure to pick up several bottles of wine at the end to bring home.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 22, 2024

- javier g6 contributionsA most do in MaltaGreat wine tour experience! - excellent quality wine paired with amazing cheese, meats & dips (most of them locally produced). The information provided is fantastic and the environment is to die for. My partner and I did the tour hours before our returning flight and the team was kind and let us keep our luggage safe in their facilities.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 16, 2024

This is an absolute must to experience when visiting or living in Malta. The staff, the family, the wines are absolute top-notch. The venue itself is perfect, no matter the size of the group.
Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable, funny and sweet. We're very impressed and highly recommend this place 💖🍷

Marsovin is one of the main wineries in Malta and it is located near Valletta, the main town of the island. I came here to do a taste of some wines, but pitifully, I only can taste two of them in the shop due to the winery is closed at the weekend. Really, the place seems veery beautiful and interesting, so I try to visit it next time.

Thank you Giselle, for sharing your wisdom and enthusiasm for wines! We really loved to come to your estate and learn so much about the wine we have loved since 1988! We learned about the grapes growing in the Maltese sun and soil, how the grapes are carefully picked, the process of making different wines and the process of bottling and labeling! We also tried out three different types of wine and finished off buying some bottles. The Grand Maitre and the Primus being our favorites! And Giselle off corse will always be our favorite wine expert! We will be back every time we visit Malta! The Marsovin estate also have a great website to visit with all information about the wines, history, how to find and so on. Its really worth checking out!

Four of us found this wine tour online and decided to give it a try. The cab driver had a little difficulty finding it as the actual winery is located in a bit of an industrial district in the middle of Marsa. Basically it is next door to a ship yard with zero vineyards on the premises. Once you're inside the building, though, it's beautiful and old. The tour is pretty quick, a little history of the winery, some talk on the growing conditions around Malta and Goza and then down a very old and steep circular staircase carved out of the limestone into the cellar. It's nothing spectacular, but definitely interesting to see the contrast in winemaking techniques from what I'm used to seeing in other places around the world. After that we headed back upstairs for a tasting. We tasted a lower level white (I liked it), a nice rose and their flagship 1919 wine of which I liked and bought a bottle (my wife didn't really think it was that good, though). This whole tour and tasting cost us 10 Euro each and then for another 5 Euro each, we tasted three more older estate bottled wines which I thought were decent as well. There was also some cheese, olives, bruschetta and crackers provided. The guy giving the tour (currently can't remember his name, unfortunately) acts as both sommelier and president I believe. He was very friendly and really seemed to know what he was talking about and made us feel comfortable for sure. Overall a positive experience, definitely not one of the best wine tours/tastings I've been on, but I thought the experience was worth it.

We decided to visit Marsovin cellars after tasting their wines at various restaurants. The tour was a higlight of our trip to Malta, the staff were very friendly and informative and the tour itself was very interesting. We were given tastings of three wines, with detailed descriptions of each wine, accompanied by Maltese foods. It is great to see a winery with a passion for quality wines, with all of their wines hand made and bottled rather than mass produced. I also love that they invite a local artist to their vineyards every year and ask them to create two artworks to be used for their bottle labels, such a nice touch. I highly recommended a visit!

Without exaggeration it was one of the best. It was suggested by the concierge of the Intercontinental hotel as our travel agency didn't have it. Highly informative, starting with the history of creation of the winery - the history of endeavour, up to nowadays, with profound explanations about the process of making wine. After all the explanations we could try several wines which we could also buy there later. The bottles were well packed so that we could put them in the suitcase. It was a good idea to buy it there, because it’s not 100 % sure that the one you like is there in the shop at the moment you want to buy it.
We knew that Marsovin made very good wine, yet what we tried there was beyond expectations!
Now Marsovin wine is one of the best in our wine collection and we open it on very special occasions.
Our favourite Marsovins are GUZE Passito (Shiraz) – red, ULYSSES (Shiraz) – red, ODYSSEY (Grenache-Shiraz) – rosé and LA TORRE (Girgentina) – white.
We love it!

We attended the wine tasting experience last week for a bachelorette party, and were pleasantly surprised at Malta's history in wine production! Harish has a wealth of knowledge and it was fascinating to learn about the history behind Maltese wine and how wine production has changed over the decades. We enjoyed tasting the variety of wines, which were served with a fabulous platter of nibbles. Absolutely worth a visit!

We booked a private tour at Marsovin Cellars as a birthday treat, and what a lovely treat that was! Our guide Harish was very welcoming and knowledgeable, learnt so much! Felt very special on a private tour, and wasn't too expensive either! For my partner it was a first experience of wine tour and he absolutely loved it! We both did!
Very informative and amazing tasting experience! Highly recommended!
You can also purchase wines at the shop at the end of your tour! :)

How do you book a tour?
I haven't seen an option to book for a certain day on a website.
Thank you in advance

I sent them an email, they replied quite quickly 👍🏻

Hi, we are visiting Malta in December. I presume you are closed in the winter for tours and tastings?
Written September 25, 2022
Do you have to book the tour in advance? Not sure when we will be arriving there.
Written January 14, 2019
Hi. Yes, if you go off-season and don't take the tour from the tourism office you have to write them and book it in advance. In off-season they had tours only on Tuesdays, but it might have been changed, so it's better to write.
Ino from their site: "The duration of the tour is approximately 2 hours and takes place once a week October to April and twice a week May to September excluding public holidays. Pre-booking is necessary as bookings are on a first come first serve basis and dates and timings are subject to change from time to time without notice. "

My husband a I are heading to Malta (staying in Valletta) this October and we definitely want to take in a winery tour, Marsovin in particular. Can you share with me if the tour is located in Marsa? If so, is the tour of the cellar only as I don't think tours go to the actual vineyard, is that correct? Did anyone go as part of an organized tour or as an individual? And how long was the tour, how much time would someone dedicate to this tour?
Thank you for any information you wish to share.

The tour takes place at the Marsovin Cellars near the docks in Marsa. Yes, you only tour the cellars etc but so much history and such an enthusiastic 'guide'. The vineyards are all over Malta and you don't visit them as part of the tour but driving around you see them. However everything pertinent is explained, and you can ask as many questions as you like! The tour was a gift from our son and daughter-in-law, we phoned up and booked a time convenient to us. There was only us three, my husband and I and our daughter-in-law. She is pregnant and asked if she could sit inside while we did the tour, but the guide insisted she come with us. She tasted a couple of wines, too! I think the tour was meant to last an hour but it went on quite a bit longer! I suppose it depends on how many questions you ask! Fortunately, given the number of wines we tasted, we had a designated driver! We also bought some wine. We have been to a few vineyards and wineries and this tour ranks among the best. I hope this helps. Regards, Sarah

Could you recommend somewhere in walking distance for lunch afterwards?
Written May 23, 2016
That would be a bit difficult. I am not aware of any restaurants within walking distance. Would taking a bus work? If yes, in fifteen minutes you can be in one of the best waterfronts in Malta - either the Valletta waterfront or the Vittoriosa Waterfront. Two great places you must visit for a great dining experience.
